Default supercharger custom intake's

Just finished up a intake for my s/c. I used 2.75 aluminum piping, a k&n oval filter, and a 3/4'' wide aluminum stock to build a mount. I used the oem intake maf flange and high temp silicone to mount it to the 2.75 pipe. I did notice a little hp improvement.

no much of a gain there unless its getting colder air. should have ran that piping in the fender .

I don't believe in the whole cold air thing... The main advantage I'm getting get is better air flow.

i dont really think sucking in colder air through the fender is going to make a difference once it goes through that supercharger.

nice intake, basically what i did, but i used the maf section of off my broken injen intake. can you hear yours, cause im using an hks filter and its very quiet.

Actually any little bit helps with respect to air temp. You have a supercharger that is compressing air which makes it hotter. You don't have an intercooler so any little drop in air temp would be beneficial. I would definitely consider doing what Marcelo said - it won't be much to do with a few bends. Other than that, nice work - it's unique.

trust me i know it will make a whole lot better difference then that lil piece of tube and a filter. before i made my custom turbo set up i was supercharged and then i sold it for 1000 bucks. i made 270 whp on 10.5 lbs and cold air intake and methanol. you need every lil help to make power on that supercharger.but hey if you think its better like that by all means its your car.

I disagree with a "huge" difference, but I think Marcelo's right. I did the same thing you did with a short ram set up with a k&n type filter, and ran a FULLY stock tC because my friend wanted to see the difference and I only won by bumper to bumper 0-70. I was stock supercharged. I then went home WTFing the entire time, then made that short ram into a cai with same filter and ran again 0-90. It was hard to count, but I got em by several car lengths, more like buses lol. I dont know today what caused that major decrease in hp loss, but the car may of leaned way out or improper install, although I doubled checked.

IDK, I have a custom short ram intake on my s/c and i noticed a decent difference in power compared to the trd airbox that comes with the s\c. I am probably going to change it to cold air just to see if i notice a difference.

Nice. Now toss a W2A intercooler on that pipe and turn up the boost. Getting a smaller battery and/or relocating it would allow even more room. I love the W2A idea but its not very well implemented from TRD/ via DG's tC. But I believe thats the set up they are stuck with due to class restrictions.

i thought that adding an intake to the s/c leaned the a/f ratios out. did you have it tuned after you put the intake on? where are they at it you didnt have it tuned?

My car runs so rich on the trd tune, I feel there is no need for a tune. I have no CEL and ill check the spark plugs in a week for any signs of running lean. I talked to gompka cause he was running a intake on his trd tune and he said that he was getting good A/F Ratio's.

sounds good to me. but i also agree that the TRD tune is definitly rich...but hey, its a cheap enough mod to try out...its not like your spending hundreds of dollars on it, so i may try it out too...i think i may even have some old spectre parts and filter laying around the garage already, lol. but keep us posted when you check out your plugs.

Don't go on someone else's A/F readings, your car might be getting different #'s due to the climate where you live, so if you really want to make sure just get yourself an A/F gauge.

i have the same thing on mine but with a hacked intake pipe and an aem filter. it made half a horsepower more than stock airbox. i dyno'd both stock airbox and intake. i only leave it on for looks. lol.

I didn't have a tune with mine.

For the next intake I get, Injen CAI, I plan on getting a tune.

With stock TRD intake and megan racing header, I get 14.7-15.3 afrs at idle. At wot it drops progressively to 11.0 flat at about 6400 rpms. Haven't tried a short ram or cai with the afr gauge.

11.0 is perfect most to go is 11.5 since your not even built. but like i said before leave that intake. just get a 14psi pulley from nst. then it will feel nice. a cold air intake wont make much of a difference.
