Default Turbo Upgrade at 130,000 miles

I have a 07 TC and its got some miles on it, what would the downfalls be for doing a top end rebuild and puting a turbo kit on? This car is my daily driver and was just wondering if it would be safe to do. I dont know too much about how turbo's work but I want to run like 400+ hp, and I am just not sure this can be done with a stock block with mileage. Please let me know if anyone has any advice/info.

Before you start getting flamed let me give you a little advise.....definitely use the search function when you have a question because the majority of the time the question you seek has been answered a million times. To make a long story very short....do a compression test to see how healthy the motor is....that will tell you if it can handle boost. Secondly, If you're looking to get 400hp I'd start with building the bottom end first....I'm not saying it can't be done on a stock bottom end but the life span of your stock block probably wouldn't last very long unless you're always in vacuum and rarely going into boost. I digress.....

3rdly, there is no point to going past 300whp on a daily driven tC. you won't even be able to put any power down until 4th gear. your first 3 gears will be useless as you can't put down any usable power.

I plan on making it a track car eventually but i am currently deployed to afghanistan right now so when i get all my work done to the tc about 6 months later it wont really be a daily driver anymore it will be take out every once and awhiles and then go to the local track and have some fun.

Do a leak down and compression test and see how the stock motor is despite the mileage. A true tale of the tape!

And, 300whp is a blast to drive on one of these cars. Fun indeed.

Correct, you have to use measured restraint in first gear, control 2nd gear, and then with good tires and weather you can unleash 3rd gear, (although on cold/wet days with all season tires, you can spin 3rd!) and 4th and 5th are WOT!

Sigh, I miss my turbo tC...but once the FR-S goes turbo I'm sure I'll be good.
