I have had my tC turboed for going on 2 years now - I have always had some what of a "clicking" or "clanking" noise when at idle coming directly from the EVAP Switching Valve. Any one have any advice on this? - I want to fix it (finally) and I am wondering if the valve itself could be broken or if the vacuum block that is tapped inbetween there could maybe be causing this????? There are no other leaks in the piping or any other vacuum leaks. The "clicking" seems to travel to my boost gauge and sends the gauge boucing around a little bit . Any help is appreciated!

P.S. It seems to be acting up more now that I welded up a new down pipe that is only maybe 3 feet long (shoots out just past the pil pan & sounds amazing!!!)

 

that sound is normal i think.......unless its gotten louder then maybe somethings up....i normally hear my injectors more than anything els.

 

hmmm i hate it - it only has gotten louder and more vicious since i put the short down pipe on - i might just replace the vacuum switch and see what hapens its only like $50

 

let us know if it fixes it, im a little curious what could have made it go bad if indeed it is bad.

 

the clicking is normal, you just have to mount it to something less dense like rubber since it used to be mounted to the stock airbox.

 

is it possible that higher pressure levels due to boost could lead to it sounding louder or even eff it up? Im just wondering.

 

i get a clicking noises at idle as well havent pinpointed where its coming from yet sounds like under the dash somewere

 

Well I have broken valve shims that you can hear on the freeway. Be glad it's your switch and not your valve haha.

Not 100% sure, gompka had the same problem where it sounds like a typewriter clacking (same noise I have) but his wasn't as loud as mine. He ended up getting him shims replaced and it went away.

I had that same "typwriter" noise coming from the belt,pully,block area. Its has since gone away after installing the nex belt and removed A/C
