So if the resistors I had bought were the correct ohm and everything just the wrong physical size would they still work to replace the old ones?

sebascolombia91 01-20-2012 09:58 PM

If you can fit them, then I suppose they would still work.

The physical size determines the power capacity (wattage) they are rated for. Depending on which resistors you got and the resistance rating of each, i can tell you if they will work.

The reason reusing the solder is bad is because the flux (which is what cleans the joint) burns off when you solder. So the old solder will tend to pull in contaminents which are not removed if thatakes sense.

If you go to digikey.com and type in the part numbers that I ordered it should give you the specs.
Part numbers
311-43ARCT
311-680ARCT
311-560ARCT
311-430ARCT
311-130ARCT
311-330ARCT
311-470ARCT

And I figured out that I did burn up some of the LEDs so I have the gauge working all blue now I just want to find out if I can use these resistors cause I want to make it brighter.

kwarmbier2442 01-22-2012 03:09 PM

And if I'm not mistaken the resistance of them should be the ohms which is the number that follows "311-" in the part numbers. Also when putting the LCD screen back on the HVAC I must have had the solder on some of the prongs touching so the display shows all kinds of weird stuff. Is the LCD fried since I have plugged it in like that or can I just clean it up and have it work fine?

Just wanted to show how my gauges turned out. The needles are a light purple, which looks really cool, cuz i didnt tear them apart to paint them. I scraped off the stock paintand used the purple vinyl! Sorry for the cell pic, it was dieing so i didnt have time to mess with settings

Came out very nice!!! if you paint the needle white, it will make the needle glow brighter..

Do you mind if I use the picture??
Thanks..

I want to change my gauge faces. I read through the procedures in the beginning of this thread but wanted to know if just the face swap is fairly simple or more extensive then I am thinking? Is the needle "reset" necessary? Also, does it come with a complete instruction manual. Thanks for your help!

Gauge face replacement is simple..
Calibrating the needle is required, since you need to remove the needles to replace the gauge face..
Thanks..
