Default 05 TC Driver Window Issue

So this morning I went to roll down my driver side window and when I pushed the button the window wouldn't go down. The window motor is fine because the window moves a little but seems like it is stuck on something. If I hold the button down for about 2 seconds the window breaks free and rolls down fine. This only happens when the window is rolled all the way up otherwise there is no problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

did u recently disconnect or battery terminal? u may need to do a full window reset. disconnect negative battery terminal, wait 20 seconds. connect it, go to drivers side, push AND HOLD the drivers side window switch down all the way and hold for 2 more seconds when its down. then pull all the way up and hold at closed position for 5 seconds, done. repeat to all windows (including sunroof, and passenger side, but u need to do that on the passenger side not drivers)

you sure it wasn't ice along the felt bottom part where the window rolls down into? I've had that before, and it's like frost/ice locks that up.

ahh.. well that eliminates the ice theory then.. lol

when you have a chance, look along the side channel the window slides in on the door frame. That can sometimes get dry over time, need to get some silicone (dry type) spray and put that in there. I know 3M sells a dry type, and CRC sells one too. Also another thought is the felt weatherstrip along the bottom of the window before you get to the body of the door, take a look at that and see if that's catching or binding up.

It actually started doing it while I was driving today and this time it wouldn't go down no matter what even with opening and closing the door. When I got where I was going I used one hand to push down on the window while I hit the button with the other hand and it quickly broke free and went down. It's obviously getting stuck on something so I will have to take a look at it tomorrow to see if I can find out where the issue is and I will let you know what I find.

I didn't get much time to look at it today but I did notice that all the way along the top of the window you can see some sort of residue that is obviously from the top where the window goes into the weather stripping. I thought maybe if I cleaned it up it would help and when I started cleaning it I noticed that there is some type of film on the window so I made the mistake of using the rough side of a sponge on it and putting scratches all in the tint Anybody know what percent the stock tint is on an 05 TC?

The stock tint is impregnated in the glass, you cant scratch it. If you can see a line where the tint ends, than you have aftermarket tint. Alot of the times dealers will get cars tinted to help them sell, when they do this its an aftermarket tint just like any other. If thats not the case, than you scratched the glass, not the tint, which I doubt is possible with the scour pad on a spunge. We used scotchbrite all the time to clean windows

Ok so it was aftermarket tint. I ripped it off and cleaned the window. I re-tinted it and didn't do the best job (rookie mistakes). However since then it hasn't gotten stuck which leads me to believe that it was the tint adhesive at the top of the window. I will just have to re-tint it again when I get a chance. I feel like it would be easier to do a super clean tint job if I take the window out. Anyone know how to do that?

Take it to a shop to tint, save yourself the hassle. If you don't really have tint window experience, you're gonna hate yourself for spending $$ and time ....attempt after attempt....after attempt. Get it done once and right once. and enjoy

I live in Miami, Fl and had the same thing happen to me a about a month ago. It has happened twice but hasn't happened since (knock on wood). If you find out what's causing it let me know.
