Add miles to odometer?
 

I am having to get my odometer replaced. I've seen where you can add miles using a function generator but the less soldering, the better. (That's why I am in this situation to begin with :) ). So is there a way to ADD miles to an odometer so that I have the correct mileage on the new odometer?

try bringing it to the dealership and see if they can do something??

Yeah, I may do that. I think the dealer is going to want to order a new gauge cluster and have it preprogrammed.

I know man. This has been one really LONG face-palm weekend. On a lighter note. I did find a place that will add them as long as I have the old odometer showing true miles for $25.

well thats good since its only $25, but will suck if they dont do it when you get there.

FYI messing with any odometer in a vehicle is considered odometer fraud. Consult a dealership as to what they can do for you to avoid any hassle.

like the waterboy said "What mama don't wont hoit her" :rolling: and as long as it is corrected, which he wants to ADD more miles, most people would do the exact opposite, he doesn't have to worry about anything, no one will know that it has been replaced unless he mentions it.

Worst advice ever, especially since the quote is wrong. :doh: Odometer fraud is ANY tampering with miles on the odometer, be it adding or subtracting. This is why I told him to contact the dealer to get it done correctly.

its like saying well i had a flat tire and instead of bringing it to the dealership for a new one, i put a plug in it myself. I wouldn't worry about it especially IF it costs a ton to get it done, I would just go to the place that will do it for ya for $25.

The dealer has to order a new gauge cluster and preprogram it. Cost is around 6 to 700. 25 > 700

yeah so id definitely go with the programming from the other shop. save yourself tons of money.

If you can get it done for $25, just do it, since it's cheapest you can get..

I do odometer transfer from old gauge cluster to new gauge cluster, but it's way higher than my price...

You could always go the Ferris Bueller route
