Default amp keep going off and on.

hello, i have this set up for over 4 years without any issue.
Now the front components keep going off 4 to 5 time during my 2 hr commute. Each time, they would come back on within 30 seconds to 3 minutes.
I notice the 475a amp was shut off (blue light was off) during those incidents. I can still heard the bass from the sub while the 475a was cut off. I switch the remote turn on wire between the amps, and re-sand the ground spot. And it is still cutting off.

You guys think i might need a new amp for the components?

I was going to say check your RCAs until you said your power light was going off also. Honestly from the years of owning amplifiers and I'm no expert but it almost sounds like its overheating or some kind of circuit fault. Either way if it's not warrantied then it's amp shopping time.

try hooking up a relay for your remote wire. when you have more than one amp in the system sometimes its too much power draw for the radio's remote wire to handle and usually one or sometimes both amps cuts in and out.

Good thought....to save yourself some time first unpower the sub amp and see if it still happens

thanks for the replies guys. Right now i replaced the AGU fuse in the distributional block. The 5 year old fuse's contact looks burn. I got those fuses from Pepboys.

I drove 40 minutes without problem. I will drive more this friday. If the amp goes off again, i will disconnect the remote wire to the sub amp to see if it is not getting enough power.

check your remote wires, then your grounds. the distribution block is fine, just make sure that it's getting a good contact. that looks like it arced from corrosion or when you put it in

switch the power wires for the mid/highs amp and bass amp and see if the bass amp dies while the mid/highs amp still works. if the bass amp dies out after the switch then you'll know it was the power connection.

is your amp for the mids and highs on a separate ground point then your bass amp. if it is i would get a small distribution block and use the ground point for the bass amp as input and split it to both the amps.

not rca's because the amp is totally shutting off. most likely not goin into protect mode because amp light does not totally shut off in protect. usually changes color to red.

if after all that it still not working maybe its the amp itself.

thanks for the replies guys.
AFter i switch the power wires,my sub amp dies too. no light and no power.
I am sure it is power connection now.
i tried to sand down the corrosion on the power distributional block. Both amp are working for the past 5 hr commutes.
but i got a feeling that it will keep messing up my fuse.

i would just get a new distribution block and fuses. that should fix it. where is the distribution block mounted. i have never seen them corrode like that before.
