Default Amp in spare tire Styrofoam idea

I have a small 600W mono amp that I want to be hidden, since I also have the eD stealth box.

I was thinking about taking that styrofoam piece that sits inside the spare tire and ust cutting into it and drop the amp into it and i can just tuck the tools somewhere else safe.

Has anyone else done this yet? Just wondering how effective this will be

i think there's been quite a few who have. just make sure to watch for over heating issues with the amp

Yeah, that's the only downfall about it. I think it's gonna look so good!

Hmm that looks like a good idea. I just don't want to have the full weight of the floor sitting on top of the amp, thats why I just want to drop it into the styrofoam piece. And I'd just need a box knife to do the job

yeah, those foam are easy to cut, i have to cut it to fit the amp on the right.
A few time I had to climb in to the back, i forgot i had amps under there. I put all my weight on it. I am surprise i didn't crack the one in the middle.

perfectly doable. depending on the amp, you might need to add a small pc fan in there to help circulate the air. a class d amp, set properly, should have no issues. clipping or a class a/b will likely need some care

i would go with gammatnt's method and then just add supports on the sides so the floor doesnt rest on the amp itself

lol been there done that. not as original as you might think ;) use plywood its better. the floor doesnt rest on the amp. not unless you put a ton of weight on the middle right over it. no heat issues either.

Bit of a bump but an idea for folks, if your amps doesn't get too hot it can be done like this. I opened up the foam underneath for venting.
