AWG gauge wire!!
right.
but if a person sees 1/0 AWG on the wire and hear people calling it 'ought wire', they might think ought is how you say AWG.
it was the proper way to say a two digit number that started with 0.
thats why you hear some oldie people talk about the good 'ol days...'i remember back in ought-four...'
even in the movies it is like that...shawshank redemtion has lines like that...

0ga. won't hurt and it might help...
Thanks for the reply.
when i ran my 1/0 i actually ran it underneath my car, not to hard considering that under the spare there is a grommet you can pull out and run the wire right down there and then just run it to the batt. i soon will be running about 80ft of 1/0 for the system i have in mind.
what amp are you running? does it truely do 1000 or is it some sony or jensen that says 1000? don't just get a amp because of what it says on the box, most amps are wayyy overrated.
go to www.dbdragracing.com and you will find all the info you need on systems.
you don't need to choose your wire size by the wattage, go by the ammount of current it draws, of course 1/0 can't hurt. also check out www. knukonceptz.com for wire, there prices are really good and their service is great.

Ok.
Few things.
Yes, I already have 80' of 1/0 AWG + wire in my tC.

I can say AWG because it actually conforms to American Wire Gauge Standards...by exceeding them. It's all Knukonceptz Kolossus Kable which actually exceeds the standard by quite a bit.
A TRUE 1/0 AWG wire will have a cross sectional area of 53.0237 mm˛. As most wires are measured with a strand count, and the strands are normally 36 AWG wire(true AWG again, kinda hard to skimp when the wire is only .005" in diameter). True 1/0 AWG will have a strand count of 4096 strands. Our eNETIC wire has a strand count of 4459, Kolossus Cable sits at a massive 5145.
If a company rates their wire as 0 GAUGE or 1 GAUGE, they are likely sitting under the true AWG standard. Common practice, if you say AWG, and don't meet the standard, you can get in seriously trouble. But if you say gauge, well then, like Raptor, you can sell 0 "Gauge" wire that's just 4 AWG in a thick PVC jacket.
Hope that clears up a few things.
And no, 0 AWG and 1 AWG are NOT the same thing. 1 AWG has 20% less copper in it than 1/0 AWG does. Granted, most things sold as 0 Gauge probably come in as a 1 AWG wire.
Any questions?
