Default Best place to hook up Amp remote wire?

I'm trying to hook up a Amp to the stock radio and i need to know where to hook up the Amp's remote wire. The dude at the store said to hook it to a fuse that would turn on automatically upon ignition.
Is this the best place to hook it up or should i hook it up somewhere else?

Thanks.

There is also a gray accessory wire behind the radio.

Which fuse is the lighter hooked through? Or should I just hook it to one of the wires that lead to it? And if so which wire?

Thanks for all the help...

I don't have an aftermarket harness. I have the factory cd player and a converter to have the amp hooked up. Sorry, should have been more clear...

There should be an open pin on the back of the radio. I forgot which one it was. so if you can get a multi meter you can just check the pins added it in... imo i think this is better than hooking it up to a cigarette lighter

true sounds neater but if he has a meter he can also use any source that has 12 volts and turns on when the car is on

Also just an option, you can just take it straight to the battery, I read that on rockford Fosgates data sheets for their amps, i would assume it would work on any makers amps. It doesn't drain any power unless the amp is hitting and it gets rid of that bass surge when you turn on your car, or turn it off, if you have it, its so annoying.

coming from the back of the radio, just tap slice the remote wire to the blue wire on the stereo harness. no need to buy an after market harness. i am assuming you are using a line out converter. i did the same thing when i had the stock headunit. so just splice off the blue wire in the stock harness (the bigger harness btw). hope this helps :D

Default how to do this right.....

Ok, so the guy who said the rockford manual said you could hook it up to the battery, hes right, any remote can be hooked up to any 12v source, including the battery, the problem with that is that its on all the time, and if you put a switch on the remote wire and forget once to turn it off, you have a dead battery, your best bet is to do like everyone else has said, find the pin on the back of the head unit and splice it in, i would also reccoment putting it thru a switch too tho that way you can kill the subs if you wanted to, and unlike hooking it up directly to the battery, if you forget to turn off the switch, it wont do anything because its hooked up to the headunit. thats what i always do whenever i install a system,

Default soo much dumb in one thread

Reading through these comments, seeing all these senior members giving the absolute worst advice on hooking up remote wires, tapping into pins on head units, hooking to the battery and adding switches to kill the constant hot, lmao don't listen to them,
Best thing to do is spend the 5 or 6 bucks on a mini fuse tap and find the switched accessory fuse location, usually in the interior fuse box under the dash by the driver and connect the remote wire to it and plug it in, its very simple and hassle free ,
I did a video on this on my 2012 Scion tC , I'm not 100% positive that its the same as the xB, but I would almost bet the fuse boxes are very similar to each other, here's a link to my tC video so you can actually see the wire tap and location.
