Dash & Door Upholstery
This is alot harder than you think but once you get going.... it gets easier.
Pulling the dash out was the easy part: http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/8854/042200162000.jpg Me & my friend trimming up the edges of the faux suede: http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/7...2200160801.jpg http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/6540/042200160800.jpg The dash finished: http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/6...2200165400.jpg http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5...2200165300.jpg I did get two wrinkles but not very noticeable. The doors finished: http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/4...2300174000.jpg http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/1...2300173900.jpg Coming up next week..... Rear passenger panels & the interior A & B pillars. |
i dont like the color....nor the suede on the top part of the door. but the effort was good. and the finished product looks good.
|
very nicee! do you mind telling me where you bought the suede from? I've been looking around to get the perfect color match to my clazzios.
|
You can probably find it at almost any fabric supply store. The color is called Blueberry Faux Suede.
|
One thing I don't like about colored dashes is the glare. Dashes are made black to eliminate glare.
Not a fan of the color either. Seems like it will fade unless you get some shades for it. |
It's suede. It's been on there for 2 1/2 days & there hasn't been any glare.
As for the color choice... I like it. So that's cool. If it fades... I'll re-do it. It cost me $12 for 3sq. yds. and about 3 1/2 hours of my time. So there's no worries there. |
i really like it. You did an amazing job on it!
|
to each their own.
good work, i like how you followed the dash to the top part of the door. my only issue would be that itll get dirty quick... |
That's awesome. I'm not ready to commit my whole dash to something like that. But I was looking for some ideas and I like the potential here.
+1 for nice work!! |
dont really like the color either, but the craftsmanship looks spot on.
ive been contemplating doing this to my 240 dash. p.s. you should buy the extra panels i have for sale, do them, then sell them for a profit! :P |
I really like that! how much experience do you have doing that sort of thing. I've done my panels and headliner on my own but my fabric wasn't stretchy enough so my edges look like shat. how hard compared to the headliner would you say that is to work?
|
I think it's awesome! Good job on doing a great upgrade for the interior!

I'd say that the headliner would be easier... the fabric I used was medium weight microfiber suede. The color was on clearance & the color they replaced it with.... GET THIS: Is the exact color of the car. So... if it ever get's messed up.... then I can replace it knowing they have more of the color. I extended the suede to the back following the same interior lines also doing the A & B pillars.... it looks sweet.... I'll take pics & post them soon. |
I really love what you did, but not a fan of the color. The application looks spot on! Are you going to apply any protectant to it?
|
Looks really good man. I have been wanting to do something like that to my doors as well.

That is going to fade like crazy btw, alcantara suede or not at all in this kind of sun-lit area of a car.
I'm speaking from experience, having done my A/B/C pillars and my door cards, all of which faded in a few months time. I respect the work done and it's cool you posted pictures and I'm not trying to be mean, but as a friendly warning you should have used a different material, protectant or not. |
I'm not worried about the fading.... My next project once this starts to fade is fiberglassing everything I just did.
To finish this one up... I'm gonna change the fabric part of the door and the rear passenger panels to match the headliner since it is gray.... it'll break up the black on the door. |
good job

A+ for worksmanship, but not my taste
