I'm thinking about taking this mod a step further....

...I'm thinking about putting some bullet connecters on the power/ground wires right near where the piezo is located. So maybe have 6' or so of lead wire.

Next step would be to buy and try different horns and piezos. I bought the Radio Shack one that looked like the one the OP used. $10.49 I think.. It sounds a little loud and a little cheesy. I connected the piezo with some heavy duty velcro just in case I wanted to remove it. So, for me, it would be easy to do some quick changes.

Another idea with the bullet connectors, you could change them when you are at certain locations or during certain holidays. ..think "La Cocaracha" (sp?) locking up at a Mexican restaraunt or just some random sound or jingle made of your choice.

Just think of the possibilities! http://www.wolo-mfg.com/spec.htm

I was thinking about muffling the piezo. It's loud..and might not sound too bad if it is a lot quieter. I thought about stuffing part of an old cotton t-shirt around the open part to see how much that quiets it.

..hmm..I also wonder if changing the electrical signal could effect how loud it is.

Great write up, i used the 102dB two-tone siren from Radio Shack along with a 300 hz one to give it some lower frequency, it works great, sounds like i have an alarm off of a Lexus.
great!!

Remember.... No cutting..... Just splice the wires and your good.

I only tested it on the 05 tC with Factory Scion Security. Well give it about 2 weeks and I'll do a 07 tC and see if its the same setup (it should be).

OK Awesome! Fhe1079.

I've got my wire running through the firewall via the hood release grommet. I'll try to take some better pix.

Per crabbyman, step #2, I agree outside the boot, its much easier, but over life (vibrations etc) the insulation will fail. That's why I went via the hood release grommet. Just a small punch through!

I also think that if you locate the pizzeo under the rain lip, it will last longer. OP's location will be prone to moisture and could possibly lead to early failure.

Well I did this mod tonight on my 2009 tC. I bought the Piezo off ebay for like 6.99 shipped. This siren is similar to the DEI 513. It sounds pretty funny, but it will do for now. I am just happy to have sound when I lock my doors! Who knows... maybe someone will think I have some fancy alarm, LOL.

Anyways, here is a video of how it sounds. It is a little distorted because I took the video from my cell phone!

Nice... have to get the bird out of the car first...lol jk

I have to change my piezo.... still have the siren too, but mine is a slower tone. People laugh at it.

haha, yeah it does sound like a deranged bird! LOL

Well thanks again for this how-to. It wasn't very hard at all and it was something I would have never been able to figure out on my own! So thanks again!

So I know now it is years later than this mod. But has anyone figured out exactly how to do this with just the keyless entry and not the locks? I read a posting about how this could be done. However I have not actually seen it. So I was curious if it has been. Thanks!

I have the wires run and have look at the kick panel wiring, just need to finish some headlight retrofit's and get this mod done. I have 4 PIAA super horns already on a relay system , so I hope it isn't too loud.
