do i really need a 4-channel amp?
I only have components in the front and stock speakers in the back. I have a two channel amp that is powering my one 12" right now. I want to get rid of it and get a mono.
But the 2 channel is a kicker zx200.2 the 4 ch. powering all my speakers right now is a zapco iforce450. should i just power the front two speakers with the 4 channel and bridge it to give it more power? And then get rid of the the 2 channel?
very confused...not much of an audio guy.

Best way to do it is upgrade the rear speakers and power all speakers by the 4 channel amp. You can leave the 2 channel for the sub as long as you have the right ohm rating and are pushing the right power to it.
I echo the recommendation on upgrading your rears. Not only do they reduce the amount of work the fronts need to do, they add a very needed rear fill and sense of place to the sound.
I would set the level for the rears less than the front. My rule of thumb: if you can hear the rears without trying, they're set too high. Set them to a point where they are just barely there when the fronts are up.
Contrary to what Rocketgyrl says, I find rear fill very important. When you're listening to music at home, concert or club, you're hearing sound from everywhere, not just the front. Even when listening at home on just two speakers, you're getting reflections from behind you.

I'd say go with coaxials for the rear door. The ideal would be matching components. BUT, this is a car we're talking about: poor speaker location (right behind the front seats and low in the door), lopsided listening position and hopefully, eyes and ears concentrated on the road. Just find a speaker that comes close to the sound of your PPIs.
For me, my system is a veritable deli-counter of brands: Infinity components in the front, Fosgate subs underseat, Audiovox Prestige front amp and Kenwood sub amp (they'll be changed out later with better stuff after tax time) and for now, stock in the back doors. I'm making a set of baffles to mount rear Fosgate coax speakers in the cargo area pillar cubbies (you can actually hear them clearer than the stock location).

It all depends on what you like but rear channels are just filler and a waste. Personally I would bridge the 4ch into the fronts and disconnect the rears. Well as long as the bridged power is within the power handling of the fronts.
Finally finished! Took me a long seven hours...haha i'm such a noob. Half of the time was trying to figure out how to install it with the wooden baffle from elemental designs, and I couldn't figure it out so I just went with the plastic one. But it sounds uhhhmazing! I couldn't ask for a better sq system. The sound never distorts no matter how loud i put the volume. And sadly, I'm underpowering my sub by 100w, but it still rattles the hell out of the tc. Once I get some more money, i'll install some edead and get some new amps. Then i'll be off to other great things for my car (cough cough, black grids and 5 axis lip kit, cough cough)
Heres my components, just the woofer. and here is the 12w3

If a person wants rear speakers, fine if it makes them happy, but when rear-fill isn't implemented correctly (which is almost always the case), it degrades the front stereo image.
