Default Driver's Seat Latch not working..

Don't know if this has been discussed before, but my driver side latch (top) doesn't work anymore. Don't know what happen, it worked just fine when I let me friend in the car,
5 minutes later when I tried letting them out, the latch felt loose and didn't move the chair anymore. I tried moving the chair in all directions and still the latch doesn't work.

Is this something that I can fix? Or do I have to get it checked out?

if the seat just slides freely move it back and forth until it catches or pull the other latches some (not to hard to break them but just a little pressure) its like a puzzle you have to figure out. i know its a pita

I tried moving the seats already, but the top lever still does not unlock the seat. It feels very loose, as if the connector cable to the seat latch got detached....

i have a question to add onto this.. the driver's seat has a memory right? it was working fine up until a few weeks ago when i move the seat up using the latch near the headrest and when i put it back, it set itself to default..

it either does default mode or the seat wont even move from the moved up position and i have to stick my hand under the seat to grab the bar and pull it back.. anyone else having this problem?

OMG, I have exactly the same problems as Hsua and yirichie have! The latch on the passenger's seat is loose and doesn't work. I can still slide the seat forward with the bar underneath the seat, but the latch doesn't do anything. On the other hand, the latch on the driver's seat does work, but the memory doesn't work. The top part of the seat goes back to the proper angle, but I will have to slide it back every time I let someone into the rear seat. By the way, I have a 06 tC
Is there anyway I can fix this? Please help me out. Thanks a lot.

When mine did that I found a small screw had fallen out (onto the floor) of the mechanism that the cable attaches to (memory quit working). It was a _____ (had to take the seat out and use stuff to wedge the seat cushion away from the mechanism) but I got the screw back in and used loctite on it.

this happened to me once, the seat back of the driver's seat would not lock into any position. i tried moving it back and forth while driving, did not good. arrived at my destination and moved it all the way forward and all the way back, it finally clicked into a secure position and was adjustable again.

Wow has it been a while since my last post here. I did find the screw, similar to the post above, but never took the time to take the seat out and investigate. Several months ago I upgraded to a Whiteout FR-S MT, but my brother still drives my tC, so I am still looking for a way to fix this problem. Glad to still be in the Scion family.

Default The Cause is this....

Hey guys I like to DIY and problem solve most issues myself, and many of you have this issue, I've gone ahead and taken apart my seat
unfortunately no pictures let me know of you would like some. the only photo I have is of the culprit:

Just above my gross thumb is the part that locks into the lever at the bottom of the seats internals, it broke off so it came loose from the lever which is why it feels so loose when you pull the handle.

PM me if more info is needed replacement part should be available at Toyota once i order ill come back and update this post with part number.
Best of luck! Khal~

Toyota wanted to charge me 100 bucks for the cable assembly that is responsible for the latch operation, if you take some time taking apart your seat cover ( not fully off ) just to get access to cable and you'll see how EASY it is to replace, go pick up some thing like steel cable from any hardware store and wire it back up and use cable ties ( not zip ties wont last very long ) to secure in place and loop it around the latch, dont forget to have it tension on it, so when you pull latch it pulls lever at bottom of seat allowing it to move. I will do mine within the next 2 weeks and I'll come back with pictures if needed also cable length is 24 inches so maybe cut 25inches and make 1/2 inch loops etc... good luck!

Any resolution? Mine is doing the same ...seems like cable is disconnected at the bottom? What's the fix?
