heres a thread for everyone to post their stupid fails:
heres mine, my system stopped working about a month ago. ive worked with it numerous time trying to figure out whats wrong with it, switched subs, box connectors amps(multiple times) regrounded the ground block, redid all the connectors, only to finally find out after 3 hours tonight the i had scorched the connectors on the fuse block... i had a bad fuse block and had been there numerous times checking the fuses, i had even torn the whole thing out today and rerun all the wiring only to find that... was frustrated but now happy that its over

Tis alright... I once spent $200+ for a new fuel pump for an LS1 when all I forgot to do was connect that wire into the fuse box... explains why I never had a blown fuse
I actually really like the idea here. We all have them, and they're all freakin hilarious. Humble up my friends... nobody's perfect!
Next time you have a moment... take a picture and remember to tell us all. It'll just help give everyone something to laugh about the next time they want to throw something across the garage.

...as a matter of fact, I think I owe one for encouraging this.
I was putting on new brakes a few weeks ago. I did my wife's suburban first. No problems (thank god! I NEVER would have heard the end of that). I did mine last because I've had the wheels off of my car a million times. I was not worried. I jacked mine up and got it on stands. I would say 30-45 minutes later I was washing up and calling it a perfect saturday worthy of beer.
I put the right-rear-passenger side pad in freaking backwards! I took the test drive and heard the worst, shim on rotor, sound I've ever heard. FAIL.

January '10, dropped a motor out of my car, built another motor from parts off that motor, and installed the new motor in three days. On the third day, it wouldnt crank. Checked for spark on the right side spark plug, it was fine. Check fored fuel, i had pressure and injectors were fine. Everything was plugged up and functional. Even pulled the passenger tire off and pulled the crank pulley to check to make sure the crank position gear was not backwards. Finally, I pulled all the spark plugs, the right spark plug was fine, the other three were covered in fresh oil. Wiped them off, fired right up. Spent a week after the install trying to figure it out and had to drive my mom's Astro van, which is covered in "Carolina Girl" stickers. FML.
Did new brakes on my buddy's 80's integra and he didn't have money for the core so we took them both off when we went in so we did have to go back or get charged. Got back put the calipers on bled the brakes but couldn't seem to get all the air out of the lines. I mean we bled through a tall can of fluid just trying to get air out of the lines. He siad he would try it and keep an eye on it but alas ended back up at my house the next day. Had my dad come over and take a look at it to see if he could figure it out, and he just started lauging. Turns out we had gotten in a hurry and put the caliper on the wrong sides and the bleeder was facing down, trapping air in the caliper. Swaped them, 2 pumps of the brakes and no problems going on 3 years....FAIL
