Default Gauges Installed [pics]

I got water temp and oil pressure done today. I can only fit two gauges on the A-pillar because I have the side airbags and can't put stuff in the way of that.

Tech notes: I replaced the stock oil sending unit (T-ed to the turbo in my motor) on the right side of the block, very clean that way. The oil idiot light did not light up with no signal (whew). For the water sending unit, I used the unused plug on the front of the block (this gets used in Camry's but not the tC. That way I didn't have to mess with the stock sender that goes through the ECU.

Autometer full-sweep electric, style C2. A little too bright on the glow, IMO...I think they will need their own dimmer. Used a little black loom for a nice clean look with CF pods.

I thought the side curtain air bags came out of the headliner? I think you'll be okay with putting another guage up above.
Why didn't you get the 3 gauge a pillar pod?

Everyone and their civic have the pillar pods, this is something different. I actually really like it. It looks kinda tech.

The side air bags come out of the top (curtain) not where he has his gauges. When he installed the gauges im sure he saw that nothing was behind that part.

My question is how did you get the pillar piece back on? I thought once you snap it off it wont snap back on correctly....no?

thanks! The airbags do extend into the pillar, but not very far. (I'll try to post a pic of this tomorrow when it's daylight). The three pod gauge piece would definitely cover part of the bag. A third gauge would, in my judgement, also be too close for comfort -- those bags come down with a great deal of force. So, I decided to do it this way, glad you like it.

I drove around tonight, and they are BRIGHT -- I'm going to need a dimmer for sure.

oh yeah -- that pillar has been off twice now; once for suede and once for the gauges. It does go back on, but one end did get a little tweaked from the stress.

Interesting - i saw an accident picture where the airbag was only in the part above the driver ...where you put your gauges didn't move (or maybe they just didnt go off). ....let me know because i will be in this situation soon

good pics! I have one additonal. In this pic, I'm holding down the A-pillar piece to show how far forward the airbag sits in there. I measured it, and it's about 6 1/2" from the seam at the top of the piece.

Darn!!! no kidding!!! Well there goes my darn pillar idea. Greatttttt ............ Ha - anybody looking to buy a silver 2 gauge pillar? I bought it and took the time to spraypaint it with plastic spraypaint ....and made it look sweet. Now I can't use it.

how long is the two-gauge pod? Maybe it wouldn't be too high up on the pillar? I know the 3-gauge wouldn't work for me...

Well its going to be the same height as the 3 gauge ..just without the 3rd gauge cutout.

I do remember seeing a pic with the side curtains deployed and the pillar hadn't moved much... and didn't someone have a 3-Gauge Pod with the curtains?

People are doing it but there is no way in heck im going to have gauges hitting me in the face if the airbags go off. Honestly that is plain stupidity ..... My pod goes up to the top just like the stocker
