Having A/C issues

We're having some issues with my wifes '07 Scion tC. I'm pretty sure its the blower motor itself. Here are the symptoms: A/C will not "blow" out the air when you turn it on. Eventually, after driving a while and either leaving it on or after turning it on and off 50 times, it'll finally kick on. Sometimes when it does come on it will blow out with maybe half force or sometimes fully. Took it to a shop and they said it was the blower motor resistor, it was shorting out. Got a new one and plugged it in, still does the same thing with the new one in. After that I started the car, turned on the A/C and it didnt come on again, I banged on the blower motor housing with a screw driver and it came on, hit it a tad harder and it started blowing harder. Does this sound like its the motor most likely?? Thanks all!!!

id say your right. it could be a pesky loose wire somewhere.

When starters go out, you can give them a jolt with a hammer. I think you're on the right track with this one.

That is most certainly the issue. I would first check if there is something binding up the blower motor cage or motor shaft, like leaves or acorn. Those stuff get in there thru the ventilation duct from the plastic windshield cowl panal. If your car is always parked under trees, definitely check that first. The blower motor is easy to get to. I believe 3 screws holds it in place.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies! It was the motor itself, suuuuper easy to swap out too. It was a 3rd party manufactured part from O'Reily, so I had to cut the original wires and splice them in, not hard at all. Air blows really strong now...it'll freeze your face. Lol. Thanks again for the input all!
