so what amp are you going to use to power your DB6501? I am using Infinity 475a amp in bridge mode. 180 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms

As of now I had no plans to get an amp, just wanted to swap out my speakers. Where could an amp be installed that is completely out of the way?

I don't want to put in anything in my trunk if it is just sitting around inside or makes me have to remove my spare tire. I have no plans to get a sub for that reason. I would be clueless on installing an amp also, but am not ruling it out though. Still seeing what the options are for building my stereo.

I don't need it insanely loud, I already have the beginnings of tinnitus from going to concerts and festivals non stop since 2007 but I do really like music and want it to sound really good though. I am not opposed to an amp if it can be completely out of the way. Would under the seat work? How much extra power is needed for that setup?

Would there be any coaxial speakers better for bass in the backseat while keeping the DB6501's up front? I am still open for suggestions.

My friend mentioned a Alpine KTP-445u since it seems easy to hook-up and can be hidden away. If I go the amp route I will probably get some help hooking it up.

Adding this link for reference regarding the head unit using the radio door, it just needs the brackets drilled out apparently.

I ended up getting an Alpine KTP-445U to power my speakers. Still seeing if there is anything else I need to order before hooking it up. Do I need an amp install kit then? What gauge wire would be sufficient?

I was looking at a 4 gauge install kit, but that might be overkill. I do not know what I should get, but I think it is the last thing I need. I also ordered 100 foot roll of 16 gauge wire and crimp caps which I am not sure if I need for the speakers.

Was thinking of this one. The cheap ones on amazon seem exactly that though. I am hoping to get it hooked up this weekend.

Do I need an RCA crossover thing also? I saw someone mention that also.

Also found this amp install how to which i am now looking over.

Installed the head unit and speakers and it worked out pretty well. Meant to post some pictures and got sidetracked. Never got around to installing my amp before my cousin stole it. Not sure if I will get another amp, my stereo is decent for now and I developed tinnitus in the last 2 years, so I shouldn't go crazy on volume levels any more. Can post pictures of the install if needed later on.
