blown sq10
well, i finally got around to installing my system but it didn't last long. i got to listen to it for 2 days before my sq10 (in eD tc box) blew. i haven't taken it out yet to see what happened but it's done. i thought these were a lot more durable than this but i guess not. so now i guess i'm in the market for a new sub. what do you guys recommend? remember, it has to be a shallow mount.
thank you

Either it was a faulty sq10 or you blew it yourself.
Reasons why it blew:
1. You blasted it, and if it was a new sub, they need to be broken in like a new engine for longer life
2. Your amp provided to much power and fried the sub
3. Your gain on your amp was to high and killed the sub.
What you should do instead of buying a new one

thanks for all the replies. i know about breaking in the sub and all of that. i turned the gain down pretty low and i figured that pos sony couldn't damage the sub. it was actually sounding pretty good and hit fairly well for a sub its size and then it just blew. i thought about calling eD but figured that there was nothing they could do for me. i'll take it out this weekend and see what i can do. i have installed many systems and beat the ____ out of them but this was my first "weak" system so i took it easy and still killed it, lol.
i used to run 2 treo 12's with 2 USA-2000's and couldn't blow them if i tried. go figure.

did you tune the amp to work with the amount of wattage the sub could handle or jsut use the gain as a volume know and do it by ear,if so you should get out a tone disk and a DMM and see how many watts you were giving it......it is an easy sub to over power, and it is fairly easy to send clipped signal to it and cook the motor in a few days.
