Default Missing range in newly installed stereo

I installed a new radio to my 2006 tC. All seems to work okay, but the range seems to be much worse than the factory stereo. The highs and mids are okay, but the lows seem to be totally missing.

My car doesn't come with stock sub and I didn't add any, so of course the lows are not going to be impressive, but it seems to be totally worse than before with the old Panasonic unit. And I was satisfied with how the bass was previously.

Is this just how it is or is it just my new receiver? Did I miss something with the installation? All the front and rear speakers have output, and I have all the proper harness wires soldered, as far as I can tell.

I know I'll need an actual sub for good bass, but I want to at least improve on the current sound to match how "good" it was at stock...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It happens. Have you upgraded speakers? In my experience installing an aftermarket headunit usually takes away the quality of stock speakers. Just upgrade to a good reputable set of components up front and coaxials in the back.

Nope I didn't upgrade the speakers. Yeah I realize now that it's probably never going to get as good as with the stock radio, since the Panasonic one had that whole SSP feature to boost the sound.

I guess a sub and/or new speakers are going to be in my future!

Thanks for the response! I feel better to know that it doesn't look like I screwed up anything then.
