Default Pioneer 6in Sub in my 08 tc? Can i switch it out?

Ok so i picked up my t.c. yesterday and was driving and i had no clue i have a LOL 6 in sub from pioneer under my tarp / mat in the trunk. Its bolted under the metal piece to the Right of the Spare and i was wondering 1 how i can gain access to it, and 2 if i could replace it with a 10 inch sub. Anyone have an 08 and did something similar? Lemme know.

P

67/1000 miles for break in period (sigh its gonna be a long summer)

I haven't even tried messing with it, but it gives significant pop with the right settings on the stock HU.

Congrats on the new car. And the miles go faster than you think.

I've had mine a week and I'm up to 480 miles. Got on it once by accident really... a car was coming up behind me faster than I anticipated.... had to haul ___ or be crunched.

(70 miles a day for work + weekend side trips)

The RS 3.0's come with that 6" sub in the back too but I'm not sure if you can replace with a 10" or not. I'm wondering if its possible to hook a small amp up to it to give it a little more kick. It sounds decent stock if you mess with the settings like JE said but I need a little more. If anyone knows about an amplifier hook up to the factory 6" sub then let me know how, thanks.

well taking it out was easy enough, (yeah right) but anyways i took it out and imma open the giant plastic thing up tomorrow, i got a lightning audio amp sitting around so im gonna try n hook it up. I got the Upgraded Pioneer HU and i hit 150miles as i just rolled in this morning, however i did do 50mph for the first time today and im still needing to switch out these tiny freaking pedals. Replaced the Dome Lights and im getting HID system installed next week for 275 parts n labor. After that if i dont get a Navagation / DVD player HU ill get my catback.

you CAN NOT put a 10 inch sub into that enclosure. Sorry fellas. The enclosure stared on the 2.0's, went to the 3.0's and now is standard. Its basically tuned to help out that little 6 inch woofer. Now if you want to install an amp in the hole that removing that lil sub leaves behind, theres more than enough room. As for using that space for a 10'. No way in hell.

Just remove the 4 bolts holding it in and disconnect the wire harness, its pretty easy. It took me all of 5-10 minutes to get it out. I'm trying to decide if I wanna replace it with a higher quality 6" or maybe have someone build me a custom box shaped like that one but with an opening to fit a 10".

Yea its really cheap and the magnet is small, but what would expect from a 6" ya know. They should've installed it with at least an 8" I think.

The answer- its better not to. OEM subs are designed to be the most efficient and take up the least amount of room. I believe the built-in amp is 35 watts. If you switch it out for an after market sub, you will barely hear it. If you are not satisfied with the stock sub, simply replace it with the usual amp and sub or get a combo like the infinity basslink or alpine plv-7

As in "depth" I meant from the top of the sub to the bottom of the magnet, sorry. But I found out from Edesignaudio anyways, its 3" deep. My sub is 7" deep so I cant use this box unfortunatly .
