Default Premium Stereo Question (08-09)

Am I correct in the following statement? This is from my own research... and I apologize but I searched and skimmed and did not find any info on my second statement. The first statement I found out the hard way.

1 - The factory stereo rolls off bass as the volume increases.

2 - The premium factory stereo has RCA out for a 4-channel amp & sub. This connection will NOT roll off bass as the volume increases.

Thank you for reading this

BUMP!

I contacted Scion's Chat and got a completely wrong answer. it was so wrong that I said I was satisfied because I knew the guy would not know the answer.

I know somebody on this side has GOTTA have a sub connected to their premium head unit... help me out! Does it roll off bass?

CSil: Hi, my name is CSil. How may I help you?
CSil: Hi Breimann, thanks for chatting. How can I help you?
Breimann: Hi
CSil: Hi
Breimann: I have a technical question about the '09 head unit...
CSil: Sure
Breimann: I know the basic factory radio rolls off bass as the volume increases to protect the factory equipment. My question is, does the "Premium" unit do the same? I'd be using the RCA pre-outs for amps...
CSil: The sound processing is the same on both the base and premium audio systems.
Breimann: So even if I use the pre-out on the premium unit intended for a sub woofer, the unit will still roll off bass?
CSil: You can turn the ASL (automatic sound leveling) off.
Breimann: Hmm okay... that helps. Thanks for the help
CSil: You're welcome!
CSil: Was there anything else I can help you with?
Breimann: No I'm good
CSil: Ok! Thanks for chatting Bye!

i have subs hooked up to the premium hu but i am not sure that it does roll off bass. i dont think it does as i have to go into the settings and lower the sub vol so it doesnt distort.

are you thinking that it cuts out bass at high vol? or by half? it doesnt from my experience

i have the premium h/u with aftermarket subs and amp. i also have the asl set to low. there is no roll off - in fact, the bass gets louder the quicker i drive. on lower volumes, the bass is heavier than the treble. so i keep the volume up around 40. ^_^ screaming tweeters and thumping bass is one of the best things in the world.

This is good to know since I am about to do my system. That would make no sense if they made it do that when they offer it so you can hookup subs and amps.

Good luck with the system

Thanks... everything is together but as everyone knows a system is NEVER finished.

I have 2 Hifonics amps but I want to put them on eBay and get an alpine PDX-5 instead... I know the alpine will have a little better SQ, I don't even have to mention how small it is! I could put it under the passenger seat effortlessly
