Default 07 radio in an 08.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums here and I hoped somebody could answer this for me. Last week I bought an 08 Tc at a Chevy dealership. After purchasing the car I discovered the IPod input in the armrest. When I plug it in nothing happens, same with the aux input. I've tried everything to at least make the aux button work. Playing a song then pressing the button, using the 12v adapter while pressing it, still nothing. I think the issue is the fact that my car has the 07 radio in there. I have no clue how it got there but it's there... My question is, would it be better and easier to simply upgrade to the 08 radio by buying one online and using my IPhone that way? Or just buy an aftermarket radio with an Ipod hookup in the front?

Thanks for any advice.

I have absolutely no experience installing stuff like that. Is it foolproof? I understand how to open everything up.

My girlfriend has an 06 tC, and after replacing my stereo I put my 08 headunit into hers. The aux input will not be selectable until it detects ground (and, some please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I did this two years ago), so all I did to fix it was place a jumper between what I believe was the white wire running from your harness down to the aux input jack, and ground. Once you ground out that connection, you should have no problems.
