Default Removing the overhead handle

Anyone know how to remove the overhead handle? Mine is making a damn rattling noise, and it's been at the dealer three times. I think all they do is just tighten it up, but it still rattles. I'd like to take it off and tinker with it myself.

I think it's pretty dumb of Scion to put an overhead handle on the driver's side, especially for those with manual transmissions...

I've tried sticking a flathead in the opening to no avail. I don't want to break it and spend $100+ for a replacement.

I bet you haven't even done it, so nice try, but please be more constructive with your posts next time.

I don't know how you will adjust it as it is just a clip that hold it on. You have to remove the cover (there are two screwdriver slots on the sides. Pull straight away from the handle. They will come out. They are a b!tch, and you have to be very careful not to ruin them. Once those are out, you can see the metal clip which you will just squeeze towards the center and it will pop off.

This was the hardest part of removing the headliner for me. Damn covers wouldn't come off.

By pulling away from the handles, do you mean pull straight towards you? Maybe I can stick a thin layer of foam underneath the metal contact. That's where it sounds like it rattles.

Thanks

yeah pull towards you. Just be careful you don't mar it too much. The plastic is easy to damage.
