Scion tC CarPC Finally Completed, AMD inside

Hey everyone, I have started my Car PC project and just finished my dash fabrication. I put in a Xenarc 700TS 7" Touchscreen. I also put in my Alpine CDA-9855 underneath the screen. I had to shrink the vents down a bit and I fabricated the vents to open and close but they cannot direct the air left or right only because it would require too much room.

As you will see, the screen has not been installed yet but thats because I am waiting to finish buying all the computer parts and getting it running. I should have that done in a week or two. But at least here is a teaser pic of the finished dash :)

Here is the computer specs

Gigabye microATX motherboard
AMD socket AM2 2.0 GHz 3200+ orleans processor
1 gig Corsair ram (512 x 2)
DSATA 220 watt programable power supply with startup/shutdown controller
40 gig toshiba 2.5" HD
Panasonic DVD/CD burner/player
BU-353 GPS antenna
60 gig portable HD for music (and its full already!)
Custom built stainless steel computer case
StreetDeck frontend software with nav/obdII/DVD/sat rad/ native support
USB-UIRT WX remote interface (I can use my alpine remote to control the computer, very nifty)

I will update my pics later since everything but the dash has changed.....

Here are the pics of my new case. It fits perfectly under the seat on the passenger side.

Well, I got the monitor in and the PC running. These are some dash pics. I need to finish the PC part of the install and I will take pics of that when it is finished.

I am going to be pulling the dash back out to re position the monitor to angle at me a little more and i will then sand out all the little imperfections that I didnt get before paint.
Here are the pics!

Hey, I am actually replying on the car PC right now. Just got it up and running, i hope to have it installed ithing the next few days.

The paint is actually SEM, its the titanium metallic and the metallic silver. They are super close to a factory match and have about the same finish as the factory paint

THansenite 02-23-2006 02:31 PM

That looks really good. I can't wait to see pics of that with everything in it. Very impressive fabrication.

mattssi 02-23-2006 02:35 PM

How come you chose to make the corners different on the bottom? Sort of looks misshapen?

Harmonic_tC 02-23-2006 03:42 PM

its just one of those things that i didnt notice until i began to paint. At that point you can hardly tell so i left it.

peteyd 02-23-2006 03:45 PM

watching.

DuMa 02-23-2006 11:31 PM

wow. thats pretty good. what fab process did u use? fiberglassing?

any pics of the back? i wanna see how u cut up the vents.

aacordon 02-24-2006 07:24 AM

should have bondo's then dry sand, then wet sand the primer then wet sand then paint to get a perfect finish, i see a lil crevice. I do lots of body work so im picky lol

Harmonic_tC 03-01-2006 04:42 AM

ill get pics of the back but it will be some time from now.

I am going to pull it back out and i need to align the monitor a little better so im going to need to re finish to make everything perfect :)

I updated the first post with more pics!!

Stu_Gotti 03-01-2006 01:10 PM
