Default small question

ok so i have been reading around here and in other forums
and i cant find anything on if i need to get a better alternator for my system
i haven't installed it yet

some info on my system
1500 watt rms 3000 watt peak for my 12
and 400 watt rms and 1200 watt peak for my mids and highs

wondering if i should get a big 10+ farad cap or go with a battery for in the back
im doing the big 3
but what im not sure about is what battery i should get if i need to get one
and do i need to replace the alternator with one that puts out more ?

thanks for any help

A second battery is better then a cap any day, but a second battery will also put more strain on the stock alternator. So you should get a high output alt in the long run too.

Also, make sure that you do the "Big Three" to the car's electrical system. It's not hard at all, and really does improve the system. And you can say you really did improve something over what the factory did, too.

Those 2 amps aren't doing anything near their rated power

no need for an alternator.

I think he said that simply because it's probably true.

Here, take a look at this thread;

The first post contains all the information you need, it provides answers to your questions, along with technical rationale/justification.

this is all coming from the charging section of the link nodsetse linked me

1200 watt class a/b 400 rms @4 oms... mids and highs 19 amps is about what its gonna draw
(3000 watt class D) 72 ...amps for the sub is about what it would draw
now i think she mens to use the rms watts which is 1500
which would yield 36 ish amps
so totaling 55 amps not 91 amps

if im not mistaken, the scion tc alternator puts out 100 amps
so the car uses ruffly 60 percent of that so that leaves 40 amps ..
and at max the audio would b drawing 55 amps
now it would never hit a maximum draw but thats really close to more than the cars alternator can put out on top of powering the car it self ... am i right about this or am i just not getting something ...?

remember, the amp only pulls that much current if you push it full tilt. do the big 3 and run the system i highly doubt you will have any problems and if anything your lights might dim a little. if that happens, get a deep cycle battery.
