Steering Wheel Swap Help

Hey SL,
Has anyone tried to swap a Corolla S, Yaris, Matrix, Celica, or Lexus steering wheel into a tC?

I've searched but I can't seem to find a clear answer. I keep finding xB/Yaris swaps but nothing for tCs. I've also seen a lot of Lexus to Lexus swaps. I know there may be some modifications but I'm curious if ANYONE has tried this.

I have a daily-driven 05 tC (no steering wheel controls). My leather steering wheel is starting to 'peel' at the top and I want a nice OEM replacement. I hate steering wheel covers!!

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a 06 wheel with controls. I could sell it to you, so you know it fits 100%. The only thing is with the wiring, you're on your own. My wheel has the wiring...

I appreciate the sale offer. I was hoping to get something more sporty like the Celica GTS wheel or Corolla S wheel (older 05-07 models).

No one has done this yet?! I guess everyone goes aftermarket....

Please post if you can help.

I'm even considering a IS300 wheel (minus the Lexus symbol)...:ponder:

i believe how it's mounted is completely different..

which makes it more practical for someone to just replace the entire hub and install an aftermarket one vs trying to transplant one from a different car.

not saying it's not possible though.

the MOMO hub adapter for the tC1 and 94-02 Celica are the same, so I suspect the stock steering wheels are interchangeable. http://www.momousa.com/products/prod...yota-hubs.html

when you factor in the price of the airbag, going aftermarket looks like a better (and cheaper) option.

^thanks for that!

My tC is my daily at least for another 2 years. So I'd like to keep my airbag. I'm curious if the sensor connections would be THAT much different.

I don't mind a little surgery

I've always wanted to go to a Lexus steering wheel. I'm in for the info!
