I just had my Sienna Indash Navi stolen in late night.


I am now very worry about my tC.

I wonder what's the best strategy to protect my indash Navi being stolen .
I live in NYC and I don't have a garage (I can't get into it since my car is too low).

 

hide it by closing your door...usually if thiefs see a screen or anything worth taking, then thats when they will attack. otherwise if they see your tc door closed (covering ur indash) then they will just move on to the next car because you aint got anything worth stealing

 

yup hide anything worth stealing, if everything is hidden they will think twice in breaking inside your car coz they might not find anything so its not worth the trouble

 

You can also get a fake oem cover to go over it so it looks stock.

 

Say wha? Why/how would you get a fake one when the OEM one should already be there... I'm confused.

 

^^ i think what he meant is put the stock radio front face plate so it would look like the oem radio haha

 

I wonder where to get that.
I am very scared... you know.... indash GPS Navi have an antenna on the side. Everyone can see it.
Also, I have pillar pod... Sunvisor TV.....

I hope you at least have all of these things listed for extra coverage on your insurance... just in case something happens. I have a "custom parts" option with Progressive and have added $2k in coverage to cover my suspension stuff and other things in my car (though I may need to tack on a little more for the new AVIC I just put in.

 

^^ yup have an insurance, alarm system,and hide those things whenever possible

check out DEI alarm systems like viper, clifford, hornet, python and others, theyre reliable and extra lots off options..

zenesis is pretty nice too and I would get it if I were to buy a new alarm system..

but yeah alarms system doesnt do everything but is a lot of help

Just go to a reputable car audio/alarm shop and get a Viper or Clifford. They both have two-way paging models so you are notified when your alarm is going off (your alarm fob beeps). Keep a 12 gauage handy in the house. I alternate 00 buck and slugs.

 

you said in-dash as inside your dash ie headunit, not a portable or on-dash.

 

yes. but it is still so damn easy to steal

 

It is illegal, but you could get your windows tinted to make it a little harder to see inside.

Also, I saw that you have an eclipse. Activate the security and make sure the system is registered in your name. That way, if it is stolen, you might be able to retrieve it or I think Eclipse will send you a new one.
