I've been dealing with that horrible squeak for months now - ever since I put in my PIE-AUX for my IPod - I've tried everything; removing the door, tightening and spraying the screws with WD-40 and nothing worked. As soon as I saw this thread I was like - wtf I've tried everything else - lemme give this a try and IT WORKED!!!! WOOHOOOOO!!!!

I've thoroughly read thru this thread and I'm so glad i did before i attempted to find the squeak. My first thought was the squeak (cricket noise) has to be coming from rubber tabs that the door rests against. I was wrong.

Once again, Thanks!

It's easy to get caught up in the little noises when you sit and dwell on them. I've had many noisy cars and in the winter, when it's real cold out, i'd like to know a car the DOESN"T rattle, squeak or make some kind of noise. Over all I'm really happy with the tC. For the money who could ask for perfection. It's fun, pretty nimble, and the over all quality is great. Little noises are going to come with economy. That doesn't mean it cheap or poorly made. Where else can you get a car like the tC for the money? I dont think you can any where else. I used to be a nissan fan and still am. The most fun car I ever owned was a 300 zx, but it was impractical and then i went to a altima..... boring. The tC was a nice change... for me, it's a great car even with the little imperfections. Which reminds me... I can't WAIT until it's spring. I love the freshly waxed finish on my car. anyway.... it's time for another beer!
later everyone.
Go Scionlife!

Guys, I've heard some noises from the dash on bumps, but I wouldn't classify them as squeeks. It sounds like if someone tab on the windshield. It goes "Tick, Tick, Tick.....". Is this the issue that everyone is facing? If not, does anyone have a solution for this type of noise? i know some of the SL members brought up this concern before.

Depending on where you live (i'm in northern Indiana) temperature plays a big factor in rattles and noises. when it's cold like today (24 degrees) i get little noises here and there. When it's warmer (40+ and sunny) my car is really solid, except for the little radio door squeak that i will be fixing in the spring.

I been hearing the squeak for 2 weeks arlready. ITS MAKING ME CRAZY ITS ANNOYING . It sounds sometimes like two mice fighting. I hit my steering wheel and hear it there, hit my glove compartment and hear it there too. I'll have to try putting the tape because it gets me so annoy even with the music all the way up I hear it .

I recommend going to your local Dollar store and buy some self adhesive felt pads. They have two sizes in each pack, one the size of a dime and another size of a hole punch. Perfect fit, looks good, and can be used in many places in your tc to remove squeaks. I personally used it for my squeaking glovebox, best dollar I have every spent! enough pads for even furnitures around the house

Any way you can re-post this fix with images again? Seem the images have expired from photobucket.

Thanks!

Well I figured it out on my own. You will need to unscrew the four screws that hold the radio door assembly to the waterfall.

Afterwards you'll see 3 pointy plastic pieces that act as guides for the radio door assembly. These pins are below the air vents. I ended up using the electrical method mentioned by another member. Place the tap over the holes where the pins would go.

When you reassemble the radio door assembly, simply force the pins through so that they puncture the electrical tape. Also for extra measure I added some grease onto the pins as well.

Since then I haven't had anymore annoying squeaks from the radio door. Thanks!

Default Figured it Out

Thanks for the Reply -> electrongeek

I fixed this yesterday as well. I took some pictures in case anyone is interested.

Below is the image when you remove the 4 Screws. And the three points with "red" arrows pointing at them.

Here you can see how there is a bit of plastic dust on them where they were rubbing. Definite proof of this squeak happening.

I did the same and used some black electrical tape to add a softer place to rub against. It seemed to fix this issue.

I hope this is helpful.

Thanks,
TraxX
