where did you mount your XM/Sirus/GPS antenna?

i have Xm right ,the antenna is on the inside (looks ok where its at,tucked very far in the passenger dash) the recption is good but not great,it cuts out alot. I tried it behind the Pillars but it was worse. How does GPS work when mounted thier?

My GPS is mounted under the dash in the air vent for the top air (the vent right above the HU once you take the "cover" off ( I get 4 out of 5 or 5 out of 5 for GPS signal )

My GPS is mounted there along with my satellite radio. The gps works perfectly.

I have an after market XM tuner with one of those magnetic antenna things. I ran the wire out through the back seat and stuck the antenna to the hatch. It's under my pedestal spoiler and I never lose signal. If it works there, I'd imagine it'd work anywhere.

R/S of the dash 2" from pillar. Stock xm was in the middle of the dash. Removed that since XM sucks balls.

my AVIC-D2 gps antenna is under the dash on the passenger side

Bottom right corner of the windshield. I was at first worried about exposing too much sunlight to it but its been there for almost 2 years and its still fine.

mine comes out of a slot near my rear view barely noticeable!

On near edge of the hood, centered between the two washer nozzles. Excellent reception.

I like the sunroof idea. Do you think it would work for XM?

SquallLHeart 05-03-2007 03:28 AM

you would have to test fit to see if it will... most xm antennas i've seen might be a little too big.

blazeplacid 05-03-2007 12:41 PM

Well I have mini XM antenna,so the sunroof thing might work

I meant in terms or reception, not fit. Heck I hadn't even thought about that!

Gonna go check right now...

It works! Now I just gotta find a decent place to mount the tuner.

Shadows_Fall_xX 05-04-2007 02:01 AM

You mounted the antenna before you hooked up the tuner?
