2008 Tc - CEL with P2402 and P2419
Hate to introduce myself this way, but i recently purchased a 2008 Scion TC with 89000 miles on it. I have logged around 1500 miles thus far and the check engine light came on This was a one owner babied car that has all recalls taken care of, so i know it was not abused.
Just before the CEL came on the following things happened :
1. Its been pretty wet here in MD all week thanks to hurricane Joaquin, and the car is not garaged.
2. Literally 5 miles before the CEL came on, i filled gas at a Mobil station with 89 octane.
3. I admit i have a habit of waiting until 2nd click while filling gas.
4. Drove 5 miles after fill up and parked overnight, the CEL came on the next morning.
Went to Autozone, and got a P2402 and P2419 codes on the scanner. I was praying it would be one of P044x codes which could be due to a bad gas cap, but alas it wasn't. Been researching on the forum all day and everything points to a super sensitive evap charcoal canister. Question is (1) have others had a similar problem with their Scion TCs ? (2) How do i eliminate all other possibilities before i venture into replacing the expensive canister ? And (3) What other parts ( and part numbers ) do i need if i have to replace the canister ?
Any and every help will be much appreciated ! Thanks.

One thing i can suggest is to check the hoses that connect to the VSV (vacuum switching valve) under the hood. This is the little green tagged solenoid on the driver side towards the firewall. It has a few vacuum lines coming from the canister and heading into the intake manifold to burn off what was collected by the canister.
I got a code several years back (don't remember which ones), but I had noticed the valve wasn't clicking any more at idle which made me suspect at issue with it. It turned out that one of the hoses had fatigued over time and cracked to due engine movement and resulted in a small leak. I pushed the hose further on and re-clamped it, and it had been fine since. No idea if that could be related to your codes, but it's something else to look at. Good luck.
