Default 5th gear to neutral . . idle jumps around

Anyone out there notice if their idle jumps around?

I was exiting my usual off ramp, went from 5th to neutral.

The idle went to 750ish and bounced up and down for about 15 secs between 750 - 1200. . . I was like wtf? When I got to the off ramp light it was back to normal though

Is it just me or does my tC have a cold?

I get the same thing, I've never thought much of it. I really think everyone on this site nit picks a little too much, but I understand your concern. Not trying to nag on you or anything since I get the same thing.

i sometimes wonder if the drive by wire isn't quick enough for the manual models.. i am really thinking scion/toyota is going to re-write the software.. and then update it later on

I must have missed the previous posts on the idle variations.

Thanks for your replies!

This is a normal operation for the vehicle, no need to worry. The system is designed to do this. If the idle drops and almost stalls, then you may have a dirty Mass Flow Sensor (MAF), dirty injectors, or a fouled spark plug. The majority of the time it has to do with the MAF, since this controls your air and fuel mixture.
