Default 73000 miles on stock brake pads

Wow 73000 miles on stock brake pads. Well, they are starting to hit the squealers so it might be time to get new pads. Anyone have experience with generic Autozone/Advance Auto Parts brands. Stockers were low dust and apparently long lasting, but I'm not planning on keeping the car for more than 6 months or so, but I'm not really keen on cleaning brake dust regularly. Also brake noise drives me nuts. Advice.

It's rare you will find aftermarket pads that don't squeal for the tC

I've tried to save money using aftermarket brake pads, and they all squealed.
Should have just gone with OEM in the first place.

As much as I'd like to yank the squealers off and run the brakes into the ground, I think that would probably be a drawback for resale value. Ordered some EBC OEM replacement pads for $40 including shipping. I'm hoping they are quieter than the Green Stuff Pads I've bought in the past.

Will find out.

lol.

I just recently changed my OEM pads @ 60K. I ordered another set front TRD and they haven't made a sound. I did use a little lube on the pads.

I tried Wagner Ceramics to replace the squeaky semi-metallic pads at 90K. No squeal or noticeable dust after 20K. I serviced the brake pins/guides and used a little grease on the backing of the pad.

So I installed the EBC black pads about 200 miles ago. I used an anti-squeal compound on the back of the pads along with the stock shims. Brakes squealed quite a bit at first under light braking from 40-50 mph. It lessened over the 200 miles of breaking them in. I decided to do some stops from 60 or so to really bed them in. 6 consecutive stops from 60, drove for 10 minutes to let them cool and then I repeated. I could definitely smell the pads heating up. Squeal is gone now. They just needed to seat well on the rotors. No problems.

I'm glad to hear how long a lot of people go with their oem pads. I have a lot of pad on both front and rear pads and I have about 35,000 miles on the car.
