Default Acceleration?????????????????????

Hey. I have read articles in magazines and whatnot on the scion with an automatic transmission, and they said the acceleration from 0-60 was in the 12 second range, but i have heard that with a manual transmission the acceleration greatly improves. What kind of acceleration does the XB get with a manual tranny? Thanks!

The manual rox like my ___ dogs. It's quick, especially once you get into 2nd and then you shoot off, like my ___ dogs. You can beat quite a few cars once in 2nd, thats when it pulls hardest, like...ok, that one sukd, like my...

You are all so helpful :D What I am basically wondering is will the XB get to 60 in under 10 seconds with the manual? How does it do against civics? Thanks!

I think its like 12 seconds stock but I have intake, exhaust, and the spare taken out and I'm sure it could do 10s if you wanted it to. I've raced a couple civics and won, but then again I know how to push it, like my...ahh hell no. Try it out first. The only way your gunna tell is by experiencing the phenomena that is Scion. You'll be surprised. I wasn't satisfied by the numbers either, especially the 108hp but there's more to it than meets the eye. duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, inspector gadget

trust me if your looking for performance then look at something else. if your looking for an economical car that will grab people's attention everywhere you go then get a scion. i love my scion to death but i feel kind of bad when minivans pass me going up hills

The box has been known to eat a few civics....I give it all to the short gear ratios.

It gets me from point A to point B with a still alot curious looks from other drivers. Is it fast enough? I think so. Most drivers out there doesn't go 90+ mph but these things will creep to that speed and beyond up to 118MPH.

Do I want more increase HP? Of course. I will always want more power than stock regardless of the car I own. I could own a Z06 and still Mod it to go faster.

Another 50HP is perfect for driving around town with some authority. A properly setup turbo kit is my choice on achieving this and I hope one comes out by early 2004.

I think 0-60 with the 5-speed is a tick under 10 seconds; not fast. With intake and exhaust, you probably won't be much faster either – just louder. :D

With my 19" 9 second tmes 0 to 60 have been done,
xb will pull on most civics with i\h\e mostly dx's and ex owners who cant drive
leave the integras alone! our only saving grace is our gear ratio and weight

As roger said 50hp more would do wonders i too am looking towards turbo
next year

Oh yea i have now problem on hills, on trek to sonoma i was pull'n up mountians
with out any trouble sure i had to down shift but so did all the honda's and maxda's
on the trip hell i was out running a maxda tribute up most of the hills

i will agree that the xb is decent for getting around but honestly i would never race my xb unless it had some type of forced induction done to it. i bought the car for the economical and style factor not the performance factor so its hard for me to imagine a stock or lightly modded xb being raced on the streets.

I'd bring one to the drag strip just to get a benchmark on performance. I'm really curious to see what some 5-speed xBs and xAs are doing in the 1/4 mile. I'm not talking racing to go fast, I'm talking getting timeslips tosee improvements in performance.

My automatic did 0-60 in 10.5 seconds. No intake or exhaust. The only thing we did was manually shift through each gear a liitle bit past the red line.

True, but if you read the test conditions, they had a decent tailwind, too.
