Default am i the only one that thinks this

alright,i noticed on my scion tc if i have a quarter of a tank of gas left from a full tank i noticed the performance of the car goes down a bit as the gas gets lower and lower, but if i fill it up,it restores the power,am i weird for thinking this, does anyone else car does that,if it does, does it do that to save gas..

I feel the same way about this. Maybe because it's fresh gas when you fill it up and hasnt been sitting in the tank, IDK. But yea, def feels peppier when filled up.

same here... but I only notice this when Im close to empty... might have something to do with gas losing octane as it sits... IDK

This doesn't make sense to me; an empty tank means a lighter, slightly faster car.

Sounds psychological. I just scrape less when my tank is half empty; or half full, depending on your way of seeing life.

^Divisii: Not when you take a turn and the gas moves away from the fuel pump, then it struggles. I know this.

Never noticed a performance difference. But it does "seem" like I get better gas mileage from a full tank rather than putting in $10 here and $20 there. A full tank will get me 400 miles but when it's not full it's like I'm buying gas every 2 days.

Because at a certain gas tank level your fuel sending unit has to work harder to push the same amount of pressure through the lines. Sounds strange but it's true. Try keeping your tank from passing half and you will get better gas mileage.

Edit: It's not just a scion it's a rule of thumb.

My car just heats the fuel up BAD on less than 1/3 tank, oh and after last night apparently I cant go much below 1/4 tank - the float rests on one of my pumps, so when I go below 1/4 tank I could be at 1/8 or I could be empty lol. This obviously isnt on a stock fuel system though - I have twin 300lph pumps with a full return system. At cruise/idle its returning ALOT of fuel to the tank so if my fuel level is less than about 1/3 the fuel heats up pretty bad.

No problems here. You guys should really try running a fuel system cleaner every oil change...I also throw in some compression restore.

I've never noticed power loss, and I rarely fill the tank up before I get down to the last 1 or 2 gallons (For reference, I think the empty light comes on at about 2.5 gallons or so left).

I use half a bottle of Red Line SI-1 in the last tank before every oil change, which for me is every 5000 miles.
