Default Anyone have or know about the Toyota VIP Alarm System???

I'm waiting patiently for my tC to arrive...and I was planning on buying the dealership alarm system...which I was told is the VIP. Does anyone know anything about it? Is it a decent alarm system. I've had other alarms installed before...but wasn't too keen on any of them...
so I was going to give this one a try. Would appreciate some advice.

Thanks!

unlike other alarm systems, you wont have to worry about the toyota one taking a crap on you or doing funny things or the most famous.... being tapped into other existing power sources the wrong way

its all up to you, but i would put a factory alarm in a new car and aftermarket in an old one

it's worthless. it wires in correctly as formentioned, but all it does is blink the lights and honk the horn. and there is a glass sensor so if they smash your window it goes off.

nobody gives any regard to alarms, so don't waste whatever ridiculous amount of money they will charge you for it.

and i'm pretty sure it's vrp. not vip.

Whats wrong with having an alarm? VIP should have both glass breakage sensor, interior movement radar and extra horn, it will work fine.

I am not sure what exactly should alarm do if it goes off, if not blink the lights and siren.

I personally preffer extra protection, especially if stock stereo is Pioneer....

basically i think the toyota alarm is the better choice but i'm not putting one in mine even with my discount

basically if they are gonna break into your car, an alarm is not going to make them run

the only way they can steal your car is with a tow truck or your keys.. so if your keeping it stock and not putting in a "boom boom" system then i say ____ it

Nahh ... you can hotwire a scion ... but that's not really the point ... the alarm doesn't have anything to detect interior movement... trust me on this one ... the alarm activated once while I was it the car ... so I decided to test it... I was bouncin around and rocking the car from inside and nothing happened ... so radar or air movement sensors are def. not there... when I opened the car door from the inside... that's when it went off

if you want an alarm ... this is what I would suggest ... get a Viper or python (same thing really) top of the line 2 way pager alarm w/ remote start .. 1/2 mile radius and it's just about $100 more than the crap ya get from toyota...

Unless you got the time to hack the Immobilizer system... you can't hotwire a TC.

Default alarm system

First off, the point of an alarm system is not only to try and scare away an intruder, but to let you know someone is messing with your car...Sure, an alarm might not stop someone who is hell-bent on busting in my xB, but when i hear my alarm going off and i step outside with my gun i bet i can stop them.

the toyota system does just fine, its only gone off once in the 4 months i've had my car, and some kids were messing with it...Glad i had it, too, cuz i was able to stop them before they scraped the paint or something.

its a good investment for a little added security, being as how your car is parked where your sleeping half of the day anyway.

you cant hotwire scion mr. smarty or any new Toyota for that matter. I am not sure abour inside radar sensors, european Toyota's get that one standard, it might be option for VIP system..

BTW - alarm wont stop radio or car thief? wtf, what planet do you guys live on, not only will it protect ppl from stealing stuff inside of car when it goes off, it will also deter most of the thieves since they will not want to risk it.

If you think that someone is going to spend time trying to get the stereo out while the alarm is off then you might be nuts
