Default Check Engine Light

Hello All

So today i started up my car like any other day but i noticed that the CEL light came on, so i stopped the car and started up again, but this time it took a few more cranks then normal for the car to start up... as I am driving and hit around 3k RPM i hear this rattling sound in the engine bay area... does anybody know whats wrong?

First thing's first: did you fill up with gas recently? Even if you haven't, go remove the gas cap and tighten it down again. Make sure it clicks a few times.

If you still have the code, go to Autozone and have them read the code for you (free).

No idea about the rattling in the engine bay. I'd get the code checked first though.

i've been having a CEL for about the last 1500 miles or so. everytime i check it, its says its a small evap leak (or something close to that). usually comes on a couple days after i fill up. i always tighten my cap to about 4 or 5 clicks. not sure why i keep getting it, but i've broke down and made an appointment at the stealership because i'm baffled.

btw...car has almost 72k miles on it.

That's lame.

Guess they realized people were just using them and it was costing labor when people weren't buying parts from them afterwards.

hey guys

l went to pepboys today and got a free reading, the tech told me that my car is running to lean, it could be injectors, or MAF circuits, my car is still under warranty. Should i take out my intake and install the OEM intake then take it to the dealer or just leave it as is and take it to the dealer?

depends.normally id say leave it, but if its your MAF, you broke it dring install so I'd take it out and pretend you just made a big booboo when you fell over a hump on the highway

well if it is running lean it probably is the O2 sensor in the header or the MAF,probably.......either way if it is not TRD intake put it back to stock and goto dealership,I hate to promote that, but at least on a stock looking car they will look into why it is tossing the code, rather tahn blame you.

I am lucky,my dealership promotes modding of cars, they put on car shows, they diagnose our cars when stuff breaks, they know we take car of our cars, guess I am lucky.......they ask us everytime what we have new on the car......even the owner of the dealership comes out to look........goodness we even get discount on parts.......lucky huh........lol

but yes take back to stock, although it is time for either of those sensors to start to fail, you could also have plugged injectors with that milage........got the same codes on my old car at about the same milage and it was bad injectors not gettign the fuel in........

I REALLY do not recommend putting it back to stock to get this looked at. You're lying to the dealer. This is why some dealers are _______s about people who mod their car. You're only making it harder on them and worse for the modding world.

If the intake is part of the problem, you need to just own up to that fact and pay the price. That's the risk you take with modding.

Take the car in AS-IS and se what they say. Honestly, if the dealer is cool, they will treat you right and fix the problem.
