Default Conicelli alarm system - able to be warrantied?

Conicelli (Partznet) sells the tC security system for a whole lot less than the dealer does, and since they are also a dealer, i'm guessing that it's the same exact unit.

my question is, if i order from Conicelli, can i take it to my Scion dealer, have them install it, and have it still be warrantied under Scion? it'd save a lot of money and still be the same thing (hopefully)

here's the link: http://www.partznet.com/toyota/scion...CSECURITY.html

Yes.

My plan is to talk to my dealer and see if they'll match Partznet's prices on the accessories I want them to install. If they match it, I'll buy from them, if not, I buy from Partznet and have my dealer install the stuff (definitely springs, maybe security, maybe sway bar...)

The stuff I can easily install myself I'm in no rush to get. Anybody know how difficult the interior lighting kits are to install?

Yes ... but the dealer may charge you more in labor than the price difference ....

you'd have to talk to the dealer thats installing it but that makes since b/c its a part under warranty and i think your under warranty if you install it yourself so if you bring a part to them it should work...

It should be $190 to install the security. If they try to charge me more for installation since I brought them the part, I might go to another dealer or at least call around. Here's a list of most accessories and both uninstalled and installed prices.

Is this system any different than the system that is already standard on the scion?

The tC doesn't come with an alarm standard, just the keyless entry.

Gotcha. I'm pretty worried about my car just sitting in my driveway. It's not a bad neightborhood at all, it just concerns me b/c she's my baby

Is there a system you guys suggest besides the Viper which is fairly pricey.

The CLUB ;) cheapest one you'll find probably. Or, get a BIG snake and wrap it around your steering wheel.

yea... does the club really work? i don't see them as much these days. i guess if someone really wants your car, he'll get it, but maybe the club will be enough of a deterrent. anyone use it right now?

I don't think they do. If a thief really wants your car they'll either cut the wheel or freeze and break the club. The Club-like thing that hooks to the brake pedal and steering wheel is probably a better bet.
