fuel gauge's needle
i find that quite annoying...my tc's needle starts goin down after i put 50 miles on a full tank of gas, does anyone else has that problem?

I just read about this. Because of the float mechanism they use and the way it pivots, the needle on almost all gas tanks will stay pegged on full until the level drops a good bit, and then will drop smoothly until it gets close to the bottom, at which point it will swing very quickly again. Just the way things are. I dislike it too, but it's no big thing.

its because the needle doesnt measuer the amout of gas that is in the gas line. it only measures of vaguely wats in the tank. the tank is 14.5 gallons but u actually stuff 16 gallons in the car. so pretty much the extra 1.5-2 gallons is the needle hanging above full for the 50 miles

How Fuel Gauges Work: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/fuel-gauge.htm
Be thankful that our fuel gauge is electronic, and that the tc doesn't show that its out of fuel just because its only on a downhill incline and have 1/4 of the tank full. |
