Default How to program a new Scion tC Key?

I have a 2007 Scion. I was wondering how can I program the new key. I tried the xB program direction and it didn't work. This key is OEM.

Program it to start my car. It just got the key cut, and it unlock and lock but won't start the car. I hope someone could give me the instructions. Thanks!

you need to have the remote start system install. The tc never had that option.

i think he means program it so that he can start his car. not auto start it. He said that he got it cut but he needs it programmed.

umm. Whats the difference between remote start and auto start? They both sound and act in the same way. He wants to start the car with a push of a button on the fob. The tc doesn't have that kind of programming from the factory without the help of a module.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant I got a new key. An OEM key off eBay, and I wanted to program the key to be able to start the car.

Start his car as in program the immobilizer to accept the new chip in the new key. not autostart it. Yea i think the dealership is the only place to do it.

Key is like $200. Programming shouldn't cost that much.. Have anyone programmed their key before?

There has to be a way!!!
I'm sure our keys are the same as the camrys so if they know how to do it we should be able to figure it out.

I got this from an IS board. Try this.

here's the process for programming a new key to start the car. the remote programmig i have already covered in the "programming a new key" thread.

-Up to 7 immobilizer MASTER key codes can be programmed at one time.
-You must have at least ONE master key already programmed to use this. IF you have no keys at all a reflashed ECM is needed(NEW ecm FOR 01'S, Reprogram for 02+).
-MASTER key refers to the black keys with remote

programming Process:

-Insert current (already programmed) master key into ignition but do not turn
-Depress and release the throttle pedal (to the floor) 5 times, smoothly and calmly (really fast wont work)
-within 20 seconds depress and release brake pedal 6 times (dont need to go to the floor on this) still dont go really fast.
-remove the key from ignition
-within 10 seconds insert key to be programmed
-within 10 seconds depress and release throttle pedal ONE time
-the security indicator should now be blinking.
-after 60 seconds the indicator should stop blinking indicating the new key is programmed. This usually takes more like 45 seconds than 60. be patiant, 45 seconds seems like forever when watching a small blinking red light.
-remove key then reinsert and start car normally.

You may think its silly, but to program the RKE portion has instructions like that too.

I believe it is a way where they connect it to the immoblizer.
