Humming Noise while driving.
 

Just started noticing a "humming" noise on my car. Its hard to describe exactly, but I am assuming its tire noise. I can hear it from about 35mph+. Im not the only one to notice it, both my dad who hasnt been in the car for about 6 months, and my friend noticed it within a couple minutes of being on the freeway. I am running on some 17" cruiser alloy (:roll:) wheels, with Good Year Eagle GTs that have around 20,000 on them, and have been rotated once. Car is pusing 59,600 on the car its self.

Since I have had it, just oil changes every 5000 miles. Going to do a 60,000 mile maintenance (Rotation, Oil Change, Tranny Flush..what ever else)

Also have some rattles in the hatch, and around the passanger side door area, near the top, which is more of a squeaking noise. But im not too worried about those..

I had the same thing about a year ago and when i brought it to the dealership it ended up being a bad wheel bearing. I thought it was tires also in the beginning.

Had the same little with my eagle talon. I couldnt really hear it until i hit the highway but it turned out to be wheel bearings.

As a owner of Goodyear Eagle GT's, I can tell you they are noisy tires that will mislead you into thinking it is the wheel bearings. I have different tires for winter and summer, and I only get the "humming" noise when the Eagle GT's are on.

Sooooooo many possibilities. In regards to the speed, I experienced teh same exact problem, but I messed with my suspension and noticed it was just my rear strut bolts weren't torqued down good. Hopefully you find your solution and come back ..cuz I still have the problem lol.

I had the same problem since I bought my car. I've started to be able to ignore it but when I'm not listening to the radio, it drives me nuts. The dealer offered to replace the bearing for free but the one I had them replace turned out to not do anything. One of these days I'm gonna take it to get it fixed for good but I gotta pay a $100 deductible for my extended warranty.

Took it to a local place where my dad has taken it before for oil changes and such, we confirmed that it is a wheel bearing. I kinda guessed this when I would make left turns on and off ramps\banks the noise would get quieter or go away, and when I would make right turns, the noise would get louder.

Only downfall...$425 to replace it, THANK GOD I am not paying for it from my pocket. Thanks dad:icon_juggle:

Are wheel bearings classified as being "wear & tear items" not covered under warranty?

I believe so, because the extended warranty we bought from the dealership did not cover the wheel bearing..:frown:

Took it to the dealership and got it fixed today. Replaced the bearing and the hub. 100% Quieter..holy crap I can actually think while I drive again!
