I hate potholes!!!!
On my way home from a friend's tonight and sure enough I hit a huge pot hole at like 40mph. takes all of about 20 seconds for my tire-pressure light to go on.
So yeah, now I have a flat. I'm not sure it the rim is damaged or not.
What all should I have checked out?
How many of you have had a flat due to a pothole this past winter?

iggy373, I see you're in Chicago, and I can say that the roads in Chicago are definitely in pretty bad shape. Like almost every street has potholes and it's a pain in the butt trying to avoid them all. Mind I ask where this was that it was bad enough to blow out a tire?
Let me guess????
You were on Highway 41 heading South!!
Cause last weekend I was on 41 and lane change. All of sudden...TPMS went on and I started swaying. Stopped at near one of my employer's warehouses and saw I blew two tires! By the way, I drove over 1 mile with the two flatties to the warehouse parking lot. This happened at 4:30 am. I didn't want to stop on 41 for two reasons. One, being I was alone. Two, I wanted to change the flat near some lighting. Since my employer's other warehouses are couple minutes away...I decided to drive it there just in case if I needed to leave it there.
But since I bought them through Waukegan Tire, it only cost me $57.00 to replace them with two brand new ones. Then to top it, no wheel damage. Alignment is kind of messed up and the new tires aren't really for gripping that well on wet roads like my Hankooks. Couple days ago, I took quick curve turn and my tC lost control almost to a dangrous level. I kept my cool and straighten it out with ease.
Next couple checks I'm going to buy some wheels. Once the weather is better, I'm going to buy summer tires while getting alignment.
If anyone from Southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois reads this thread...Next tires you need to buy. Buy from Waukegan Tire. Cause I spent extra $30.00s for Road Hazard warranty. Even potholes are included! I bought from Firestone before and I know for sure if I was to hit pothole with their tires they wouldn't charge me 57.00s for new tires, balance, and labor.

XPRESSCION, where is Waukegan Tire located? I was planning on ordering tires online when the time comes, so I didn't bother looking into getting tires from a local shop. How much do tires run for there compared to getting them online?
well the best way to deal with a pothole if you cant avoid it is speed up. Slowing down will make your tire go into the hole easier. Its like putt a golf ball to hard and it just goes right over the hole. Same thing with th epothole and your tire. But sorry to hear that.
I just hit one today too, my tire is wrecked, and now I have to see if the wheel is or the valve sensor are wrecked. I hope there isnt axle damage or whatever else. I am so frustrated. What a string of bad luck for me. I was going 40 and it make a loud noise, sensor came on, then car started veering to the right (damage to front passenger tire) I really dont have the money to fix this.
Can I put 2 different brand tires on the front than on the back (same size, same width, both all season)?

I'll never forget the time my brother was driving and he lost controll going around a curve and hit the curb. Sign said recommended speed was like 35 and he must have hit it at aroung 60. I had only had the car for about 3 weeks so I was pretty ____ed that it might already be broken. Lound noise but no damage. Went to get the alignment checked and the guy said it was still good and the rims were not bent.
Needless to say I have yet to let my brother drive my car again.
