Also the AEM will be a dealer buy only. I was told that it will not be on the market.

Correct, ANND, the AEM will be covered under warranty, and can not interfear with any needed warranty repairs. So while the K&N is a great intake, I'm going to wait a little longer for the AEM cai.

Had Injen, AEM, and TRD intakes on my Matrix - Injen had the smallest filter and the crapiest way of mounting it in the engine bay. AEM was ok, TRD was best. I also installed a K&N typhoon on my friend's car - that thing was very well made with good filter. But when it comes to gains - they are all the same. If dynos are different - it's dyno error, which can be 1-3% easily - so +/- 5hp on 160hp engine is normal.

The only real warranty that will be voided is emissions. The only reason why its taking so long is because there trying to make the intake carb legal. Since this car is so emissions friendly they dont want to break that little line.

Before I install our K&N I'll ask the dealer what will be voided.

The the most legit-sounding rumor about Scion/AEM intake delay is that AEM is trying to make a cone filter that contains a charcoal insert (just like our stock airbox). No wonder it takes them that long - they can't just pick up an existing 2.75" - 3" filter and call it a day...

that is correct. thats what aem told me at the sema show. thats why it is taking so long.

if you notice, k&n is labeled "off road/racing division". i think it was mentioned that it is NOT carb legal. thats what aem is trying to do, make a carb legal intake. thats why its taking so long, they are trying to find some way to match the stock filter. now just a intake is not carb legal, dosent mean your not going to pass emissions. thats totally different. but then again it depends on what part of the country you live in. california is known for being very strict when it comes to modifications. like i said it all depends.

i didn't really want to beat the aem cai thing to death w/ this thread. all of the posted info has been on other threads. back to the question of this thread, does anyone know the date of release? like a dealer or a rep or some one who has some inside knowledge.

Again.. not everyone cares about it being CARB legal... a lot of states don't even have nor enforce emissions laws anymore. I just want the friggin intake that I paid for 6 months ago.

K&N does not supply AEM filters.

You could demand a refund. That's what I did after waiting a month for the sorry lip spoiler I had paid for when I bought the car. After I paid for it, they told me it was on back-order...and after seeing a couple tCs, I decided $385 was far too much for something that's not noticeable anyway, so I asked for a refund.
