It may be similar but you also have to realize that the vacuum pressue will be slightly less on the Weapon R b/c it's drawing air in from the sides as well as the front. If you force it to only draw from the front where the rammed air is coming in (wrapping the filter to only draw the front air in), it may actually increase the vacuum and induction effect. Just a theory though.

Your probably right but for the price its just an EFFIN box why does it cost so much!! I'll spent the 5-10 bucks on some tubing to move the filter down to the bumper.

I have read from some people that have the cold air box, they say it is just for show, they felt no difference what so ever. But don't quote me, i don't have one.

I don't think it could mess up the vacuum pressure.....at least I'll test it and see how well it works. I'll do that whenever I'm ready, maybe around December whenever I get all my christmas money haha.

The only problem with doing that is the fact that since the Weapon R filter is a dry foam filter, it will soak up rain splash a lot. The oiled filters (some come with rain repellant covers) repel a bit more water b/c of the oil in them.

Really? Maybe I shouldn't waste my money trying on that....The Cold Air Box suppose to gain about 5HP but I don't know if that true.

Yeah, I would't waster the money. You'd get more of "cold air" feel if you just ran the piping. I did that with my truck and a 3$ shop vac adapter from home depot. Mounted it with some silicone in my lower air damn and ran a pipe blowing right on the filter. Works great on the highway. Kind of dirties your engine bay though.

That make sense. Ok, if I was going to buy a nice injen CAI and a bypass valve or whatever it called, will this help prevent from hydrolock? Does this bypass thing helps alot from having the rain splash or being around the snow for 3 to 5 months? I know it doesn't snow in Texas but I go to college in New York.

Mine wasn't oiled. I thought all the weapon r filters were dry foam. Mine sure is. Maybe that's their new thing to copy AEM? Who knows. Just be careful b/c even with the filter wrap, it'll still absorb some.

The only intakes that allow for a bypass valve are the AEM and TRD. It won't fit the other. You would have to cut the pipes. The Injen is nice b/c it can be converted into a short ram. The K&N falsely said it could, but the main pipe is too long. I'm just keeping it CAI, and plugging the bumper slot back up if it rains too hard.

Hmm, very weird. Oh well. I sold it off so I'm staying with my CAI. All the rest of the ones that I've seen have been dry. What color is your filter after the oil charge?

Mine was black before and after. the oil is like a brown tacky paste that needs to be rubbed in, its not a spray. It is VERY tacky until rubbed in, and then VERY slick.

No, there are problems with the fitament and yes, it will be very hot b/c metal just absorbs ambient heat. If there's no way for it to be cooled, it will just get hot. The air coming in will not be substantial enough to cool the metal off, so it will slowly get hotter and hotter. It will reach a heating limit eventually, not melt or anything, but it will get to a heat point where it'll just remain at that temperature until your engine shuts off and the engine bay is allowed to cool.

No, sorry i was talking about the actual tubing that goes to the the throttle body, mine sits too high and touched the hood liner. It burnt a hole through the liner. I'm guessing the cold air box would fit fine. Maybe i should try to angle the fitting on the throttle body better or something, to keep the tube from touching.
