Default Key Programming Situation / Question

I have a '05 tC and have an issue with my key fob. I recently purchased a new casing for the key - as for some time now I've been using a key copy and holding the key chip against the key copy to start (since your chip has to be close to the transponder near the ignition).

After some handling of the key fob/chip today (including scraping some super glue off the side so it would fit in the new casing) - all of a sudden I can't get the car to start. The fob's battery is good - as the unlock/lock/panic buttons still work.

Any insight here?

I'm not a car guy - so I don't know much here. I did mess with a couple 7.5 fuses right before my key stopped working because my radio stopped working and I was checking to see if was a fuse. Could that be at all related? I doubt it, but I was literally in the parking lot of Advanced Auto after purchasing some fuses and then after replacing a couple (and putting back the older fuses as I tried to get my key to work) I couldn't start the car.

SO - the last thing I want to do is get my car towed because of this.

Any insight from those in the know would be greatly appreciated!
