you might want to get the ground effects becasue i wished i had gotten it when i got my car. to me thats the most major thing i would get. the rest you can get from websites like www.trdsparks.com and install it yourself . this is the best tc forums!!!

This forum stinks.

As for options, Scion dealers are about 50% cheaper for their options than anywhere else, so load up your car with every single option possible. You won't regret it.

ok, I jest. PLEASE use the search function.

PLEASE! These topics have been covered a million times already.

Ok, yes, these topics have been covered by a lot of threads..but here goes:

First thing I recommend you do is seriously browse through the Scion tC Owners Lounge and just read as many threads as you can. Spend a few days doing this. Then, think of a question that you didn't see covered in those days of reading.

You will find that most accessories you can buy from the dealers are considerably marked up so they can profit from it, since they don't make a huge amount from the sale of a stock tc.

trdsparks is a great source, as well as scionpartspeople.com

I think both places have great prices, about half as expensive as the dealers.

Lastly, just buy the tc. You will love it.

If you owned an evo, and would like to see a little ole tc beat it, check out dezod or zpi for a stage 1 turbo and impress your friends and dazzle your enemies with your nice boosted tc that really PULLS!

As far as basic options I am super glad I got, the auto dimming mirror with homelink is one of the main ones. I LOVE that thing, and it is something I wouldnt have purchased later, I would have just spent that money on more fun mods So I got it with the car.

As far as forums, this is one of the largest I know of and has a LOT of people on it. If you want more serious, technically backed knowledge based upon real life experience (basically the exact opposite of tuner magazines :D ) then yoursciontc.com is a great one. There are a lot of very knowledgeable people there, and the skepticism is VERY welcome to me, since I like to look at all of the aspects of things before just bolting on. The more I have learned over the years, the more I have learned to be skeptical and analytical. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here, but the other site seems to have less of the ones that have barely worked on a car, yet think they know everything and laugh when you try to help them or tell them something they dont want to hear. But dont get me wrong, I obviously like this site.

As far as modding later, it has gotten cheaper. There wasnt much out when I got mine in Oct 2004, but a lot has come out and a ton more is on the way, so there are a lot of good possibilities out there.

oh yea, if i were ordering mine again, i would get the lip kit, lip spoiler. just so you wont have to drill into your own car, let some1 else do that and inspect the crap out of it!

As stated before; I would highly recommend getting the Ground Fx Kit. You really don't save much if any at all if you decide to get it later. (Buy the Kit after you purchase your tC, then you have to find somebody to install it for you. That could be a pain.) Also if your interested in one of the OEM Spoilers, I would get one of those installed too. Anything with having to drill into my new baby, I would let a professional (if you want to call them that) do it.

a few reasons...
1. i drive way too fast
2. my payments are $500+
3. i just got a ticket for smog.. i know the car won't pass and I just don't think i'm going to want a stock evo with large payments

Does adding the ground effects kit later require drilling the metal side sills of the car? Or just the bumpers?

Don't believe so. I think the side skirts are total replacements for the stockers, and the front and rear pieces are drilled and mounted on the existing bumpers. Here's the PDF of the installation instructions off of TRDSparks.com:

if i was you ill get the lip kit, exhaust, intake, wing ( i like the lip wing i think it looks better) and drop it its going to be lil more but its going to be better, cuz then your going to wait lil longer to get your mods, well thats what i think well good luck on your car and dont redline it.

I'd recommend that you hold off on the exhaust and the intake, you can find much better prices online and the installs for both of those are so easy to do.

www.mcgeorgeparts.com
www.trdsparks.com
www.scionpartspeople.com

You'll find that pretty much every OEM accessory is far, far cheaper on these sites. It's the exact same stuff. The trick to determining what to buy with the car is to get the things that you'll want to finance or do not want to install.
