Default maintenance required light question

so i got a maintenance required light and i've got about 9050-ish miles or so. and it flashes for 5-15 seconds. is this just reminding me that i have an oil change due soon or do you get a cel for that. or.......... is it not an oil thing and my car is just screwed.

Your car is screwed.

Just kidding. It means you've got an oil change coming up. I assume you got an owner's manual with your new car??? What's the matter?...Too manly to read the instructions?

Whoever changed your oil last time may have forgot to reset it. You can go ahead and reset it yourself.

If you reset it you should know what it means

It will flash about 4000 miles after you reset it to remind you an oil change should be coming up. It will stay on afer 5000 miles. All in the manual.

seriously...stupid lazy kids. when my tc got to like 4500 miles, the maitenance required light came on, i was worried for second. reached for my owners manual. half a minute later i figured out "oh, it is a reminder to get my oil changed. no big deal."

seriously kids, READ THE DAMN MANUAL! my mom has been driving cars for decades and she still took the time to read her owners manual cover to cover when she got her new subaru. the worst thing that can happen is you might learn something!

yeah, i would read mine while getting the oil changed, getting windows tinted, or waiting wherever while i was having work done on it. not a bad read at all.

when my gf got her xa and referred to her gear selector as the "thingy" i slapped her with her own owners manual and said read this whole thing right now and if i hear you refer to any basic interface component of your car as "thingy" again you will face the wraith of the back of my hand!
