Middle Break Light Plastic

So I just moved to California and I'm noticing a trend with the Scion tC's out here... one more then half of them are driven by women... two what is up with the piece of plastic right below the middle break light that covers the mechanics/open handle for the trunk? I have seen a lot of tC's with this piece either missing, damaged, hanging off or taped...glued back on.

Yeah, I noticed that a lot of women drive the tC as well, that is why the tC is generally associated with being feminine sadly. I guess it's because women love how it looks, so that's actually a plus to us guys. Also, the hatch handle was designed like ____ on the 1st gen, for a lot of owners the hatch breaks off because it was incorrectly opened or frozen. The handle is basically supported by 4 plastic supports with metal screws in them, it was poorly thought out on Scion's end. And then there's the oil consumption issue with 2007/2008 tC's. But other than those, it's an amazing car.
