You're debating getting a whole new car based on replacing a bumper & grille? (not even sure if the grille needs to be replaced).

Thats seriously like a $350 fix.

Depends on what you want. If you're looking for a performance-based ride, get rid of the tC. Nothing
you do to it will satisfy your needs. (Since you want RWD.) I do not expect much from my tC and it's a great
ride for the price. It looks nice, gets me from point A to point B, and has Toyota reliability. That was enough
for me to scratch my plans of possibly getting a BMW or MINI. (And the fact I paid cash for my tC.) Either
way, you're going to need to fix it. So you might as well keep the tC until you can afford a better ride. GL

Get a second job to pay down/off the car you have... then save up for something nicer... if you really want to get that second job.

You're way off, the bumper would need to be replaced, the grille probably has broken tabs, & the hood doesn't line up so I bet the radiator support needs to be pulled. That's definetly over $1000.00 worth of damages with oem replacement parts.

1000 ^^^^ LMFAO!!!

a NEW bumper is 232 primered, paint should be another 200, brings it to 432, a STOCK grill can be found on SL for 50-60 IF that!

call it 500 AND THATS with a brand new bumper, getting a used one on here on at a junkyard will also save you tons of money.

Yeah you keep laughing thinking that is $500.00 worth of damage. If it was only a bumper job you would be right but there is more damage there than just a bumper.

LOL at stock grille on SL comment. Do you really think an insurance company is going to be on here looking to purchase a grille for his car?

So you don't have many hours at work it seems yet you want to buy a newer and faster and probably more expensive car than fix a bumper. Just keep to tC and fix the bumper. That's what I would and have done.

BY THE PIC THE OP POSTED THERE IS NO HEADLIGHT/HOOD DAMAGE, so yes it is a bumper job.

Go through the insurance, get a check and do the part shopping yourself at a body shop you know that is reputable!

If you read my post I never stated there was hood or headlight damage. I stated the hood does not line up, if you zoom in to the pic you can clearly see that. If that is the case (unless the op had the hood open) this is not just a bumper job.

Who says he needs to go through insurance? Unless the other person involved files a claim. If it's $500 worth of damage it wouldn't be worth it. I believe the cheapest deductible you can get is $250, & to be honest, I'd dish out the other $250 and keep it off my record.

Bumpers are easily replaceable. You can find one on SL here for $250, tops, & you can find upper grilles for $25 shipped.

Even if he purchases an oem bumper from the dealership, you can find shops to paint it for $100.

REGARDLESS, IT WOULDN'T BE WORTH IT TO GET RID OF THE CAR...even for $1000 damage (which its nowhere near).

You are incorrect, the lowest deductible is $0, but you'll be dishing out quite a bit more per month to have that on your policy.

Maybe to you it's not worth it, but if the OP can make the change to something faster and not wrong wheel drive, that is his choice.

Too bad he'll be upside down (he has an 07) & will lose out on way more money so yeah, the $1000 would be a better option than the cost of being upside down.

& seeing how money is an issue, I highly doubt the car is paid off, or his deductible is $0.

How do you know he is upside and will lose money? Have you seen his bank statement for his car loan to confirm your statement? When did he say money was an issue (losing hours at work doesn't mean money issue stop assuming ____)? If that was the case I seriously doubt he would be thinking about upgrading to something better than the tC.

The fact that he has an 07 leads me to believe he's upside down. The majority of people don't pay off cars that quickly. People who are hurting for money look for 2nd jobs, & the fact that he even mentioned losing hours at work is enough in itself that he's hurting for money.

Get that stick outta your butt, the hell's your problem? & that's the thing....he's THINKING about upgrading, doesn't mean he is. Do you know how many times I've THOUGHT about upgrading? Doesn't mean I'm gonna do it.

So clearly....YOU stop making assumptions. I don't even know what the point of this whole post is. There's no question or anything. & why are you so quick to defend him in anything? Sheesh.
