well ther eis a shop around here that has these fancy LED "rope"

not like the cheapy clear flexy-tube/christmas lights

they are a flat and rectangular, similar in shape like the 3M foam tape but bigger with leds in them that you can section off into the size you need and can easily be hidden.

one of the xBs around here has them in the engine bay and they light up the whole thing very nicely and you can't see them at all, only the light they emit. they are very bright too.

i have no idea what they are called or anything but what I said above and that a shop near me has them, thats all I was told about them, that is all i needed.

i will ask for more details if you want.

Yeah bro, I live like three streets away, I saw yours before, cool ride. I also see a white one with a pedestal and I think a lip kit around the area too.

alrighty, 2/3 of my interior lighting is done.

blue dome lights, blue cubby light, blue light in the hatch, hyperwhite map lights (all LED, thanks garage1217!)
1 12" white cold cathode tube mounted under the dash on each side to light up the front footwells
2 12" white cold cathode tubes mounted under the front driver and passenger seats to light up the rear footwells

what's left is wiring in 32 blue led's and a blue 4" cathode on each side of the hatch. So far i've spliced in the power wire for the blue cathodes and run them to the back. the wires for the led's are almost done. i've brought power for them to the passenger door, the rear passenger cupholders, the front passenger airvents, the front driver airvents, and the rear driver cupholders. I still have to do some more splicing to bring power to the center console cupholders and the drivers door.

so much wiring, so little time

I took a few pics today, but the sun had gone down a bit so you can't really see it shining

Looks very nice.. where are the locations of all the lights already in there?

and actually.. I think the white footwells are a nice contrast between the blue on the rest of the inside..

And what did you do to the sidemarker inside the headlights?

and on the topic of grilles.. does anyone know if you can get the RS1.0 black grilles and replace them for the stock ones?

lets see here... 1 light in the covered phone holder piece in the center console, 4 leds in the center console cupholders, 5 leds in each of the rear cupholder areas, 1 led in each of the door handles, and 3 in each of the door pockets.

the sidemarker is a clear piece that i bought off of someone and siliconed in place of the amber sidemarker. they're stock headlights with just the sidemarker changed.

the grille can be found every once in a while over in teh classifieds section, but they rarely go for under say.... $400?

i lied, there's also an led in each of the center console airvents

1+4+5+5+1+1+3+3+1+1= 25 leds?!

plus how many cathode tubes for the footwells?

and were those a couple kits or did you buy leds and cable and started soldering and stuff?..

on Q. #2.. so I guess you did the headlight bake thing?..

on Q.#3.. damm!.. $400 for that.. how much are they from the dealer?.. I guess I'll have two search for a suitable lookalike

yeah, 25 led's.... so far. I still have to put an led in each of the airvents nearest to the door. I also want to put one in the circular defroster vents above those airvents. I may even double up on teh airvents because they way it is now with only 1, it isnt that bright. The speaker grilles in the doors and in the rear seat panels might also be on the list in the future.
As for the cathodes, I ziptied 1 tube up under the dash in front of each footwell to light up the fronts, to do the rears, i ziptied 2 tubes on top of each other. With only 1, the cloth at the back of the seat was blocking most of the light. With 2 on top of each other, the bottom tube could shine underneith the cloth.

yep. I baked the headlights. I installed DDE's at the same time.

from the dealer is like $1,000 and you have to supply an RS1 VIN.

I bought 4 of these for the footwells-
http://www.oznium.com/cathode-kit

2 of these for the rear trunk area-
http://www.oznium.com/cathode-kit-4

35 of these-
http://www.oznium.com/prewired-leds

1 of these (16 gauge version)-
http://www.oznium.com/atc-fuse-holder

1 100ft roll of black 16awg wire from autozone

1 100ft roll of red 16awg wire from autozone

2 blue led rocker switches from autozone

1 package of ATC fuses (I used the 5 amp fuse) from autozone

1 package of butt connectors for 16 awg wire from home depot

1 package of ring terminals for 16 awg wire from home depot

1 package of multi-sized zip ties from home depot

I think that's it.

Nice..

about how much for all the suplies?..

and those butt connectors where the "heat shrink" type?..

on a scale of 5 stars.. five being "For Pros Only".. how hard ist it?..

it's just that at times I see these awesome displays of creativity and think of going out and doing something similar.. but I have my gripes about soldering and splicing into factory wires.. so I dunno..

And DAAAmm! that RS1.0 grille!..

I'll gues I'll have to settle for them "Figure" ones.. but haven't seen them in "flat black".. so I'll have to check..

supplies would be 130 i guess, but i never added it up.
the butt connectors were just regular ones that came in a package of 100. they're blue if htat helps.
2/5, basic wiring is needed, how to splice, how to make a ground, red is +, black is -, etc etc
the only problem w/ install is the time needed. It took me 1.5 whole days to do. I could get it done in less than a day now that i have the experience though.
figure has a flat black powder coat option available in their ebay listings.
